Well, I just thought they totally messed up Venom's character. He's supposed to be Spidey's biggest foe, yet he came off as really weak. Spidey shouldn't have been able to go toe to toe with him, but he easily held his own. I know Sam Raimi doesn't like Venom, so I'm sure that had something to do with it. I mean, Venom should have been a bad-ass who just wanted to kill Spidey and do it on his own.
They could have done soooooo much more with Venom, and they shouldn't have even had Sandman in it. The film really didn't need it. It was just another baddie, just for the sake of having another baddie and making Venom look weaker than he is. Batman Begins made good use of multiple baddies. When they collaborated, they meshed really well and it made sense that those particular baddies were working together. In Spidey 3, it could have been Venom and any other bad guy in place of Sandman and it wouldn't have made a difference to how the movie was made.

To be fair, Raimi has always stated that he never liked Venom. Venom, to him is "a big goofball from outer space" who is "for squares!". Venom comes from a different era of Spiderman that Raimi grew up in. Raimi is a fan of the Silver Age. If you go back to even the conceptual art of Spiderman 3, there was no Venom. It was Sandman (who Raimi has always stated that he loves) and the Vulture. Venom was demanded by outside sources, be it studio or Venom's fanbase. So you get the distinct impression that Venom was forced upon Raimi. My main concern was that there would be too much for Raimi to cram in. People mention multiple villains and how to approach it i.e. Batman Begins. But in films like that, you never find out any real substantial background story. They just are bad guys. Raimi loves his bad guys and gives them just as much screen time as Peter Parker. If the movie had just been Sandman and Green Goblin, then it probably would have been more well received. But the studio forced Venom into the equation, which is something Raimi never planned on or even wanted. The Lizard was his choice for Spiderman 4, with either Kraven or Electro. He had no plans for Venom. He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. There's too much backstory for Venom and how he came about. He always needed his own film. To be honest, it doesn't really bother me. Venom, while very cool conceptually, leaves me a bit cold. I prefer Sandman, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, The Lizard, Mysterio etc etc. Venom reminds me of his co-creator's other creation, Spawn. In the way when you first look at him and read it, you're like "This is so awesome!" then you put it down and come back to it a few years later and you find yourself like "Meh!"
I'm off to see it tonight and I'm under no allusions that it's going to be anywhere near as good as Spiderman 2, but I reckon it's going to give Spiderman 1 a run for it's money. At least, it's not as bad as X-Men 3.

I might be in the minority when I say that I actually liked X-3. Granted its not in my top 5 comic to screen movies. That would be Spiderman 1, X-Man 1, X-Man 2, Sin City, Spiderman 2, in that order. But still I found the movie enjoyable. But I did have some problems with it though.
-Phoenix: Granted if they went with the actually Phoenix storyline, it would have taken at least 2 movies to do it right. They would have had to introduce the Shi'ar and the battle for the m'cron crystal and the birth of the phoenix in Jean. Then the second movie would have had to concentrate on the Dark Phoenix. So in that sense I can forgive them for making the Phoenix the dark side of Jean's personality.
-Killing off Cyclopes. How could they kill off one of the main characters of the X-Men? Now with Xavier, I can imagine that they knew that this would be Patrick Stewart's last run as the Professor, so they came up with a creative way to switch actors. And it sticks with the whole X-Men m.o.
-Killing off Jean Gray.
They better be doing a X-4 to make up though for X-3. But more then likely it won't be for a long time. There is the rumored Wolverine solo project that needs to be completed. And also I think I heard they were doing a Magneto solo movie as well. But that one was going to concentrate on Magneto when he was younger.
But if they do make a X-4, they need to have it be the Age of Apocalypse storyline. That should be a feat for the CGI to create Apology's.
But enough about X-Man 3. Anyone ready for the Transformers movie coming out in July? Anyone? Yeah I am kinda leary about the whole live action movie. I just don't think it do justice to the old cartoon series. And I mean version 1 where Optimus Prime was the semi and Megatron was the gun. Not the latest versions of it.

Best comic book movies: 1) Sin City 2) X-men 2 3) V for Vendetta 4) Spiderman 5) X-men
Spider-man 3 blew. The only thing that made it worth the $7 was Sandman, the various fight scenes, and Harry getting his head smashed in THREE times.
Venom was really gay. Watching that goofy CGI try and match Topher's voice was amusing, though.
McGuire cried no less then 10 fucking times. Even for a pussy like spider-man thats gay.
Why did he start dancing? Since when could he play the piano? Why did we have to hear gravel-face sing not once, but twice? Also, did that fugly bitch just forget that Harry tried to rip her throat out at one point? Seriously, you think that would have come up later on. And what the FUCK was up with the queer emo shit? I swear that fag was wearing eye-liner at one point. I knew because it started running when he was crying for the 47th time.
This movie was bad. Worse then the second one, and I really thought that one blew.

I like the fact that he's not too cartooney. Makes me think we're gonna see a dark as fuck Dark Knight. I can't wait. The first thing that came out was this: ibelieveinharveydent.warnerbros.com/Then this quickly followed it as well: www.ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com/If you click on "Email Address" the picture changes to reveal the above. The more you refresh, the more you see of the first shot of the Joker. As a marketing strategy, this is a damned good one. Rumours are circulating and not being denied that the first trailer will be attached to Harry Potter 5. This film looks like DC will catch the fumble that Marvel have seemed to drop with XMen 3 and Spiderman 3.

again, not the real joker, that is another "photoshop fake"
also remember that harry potter 5 is out in july and they have only just started shooting at the start of this month, so i highly doubt that there will be a trailer.
One thing i do know and quite possibly on a few people ( rage, spackle, nin ) will get but in the trailer for 300 did you see the shot of rorscach from watchmen as the director of 300 is now doing Alan moore's watchen ( finally )

Harry Potter 5 is done, completeo! It must be the 6th one dude as there is already trailers for the 5th. On movies, will W. Ferrel ever match Anchorman as I just checked out Blades of Glory and it's another average comedy. Talagela Nights was the closet to taking Anchorman's throne!

It's possible Cactus. But I think they started shooting earlier than the beginning of this month. Remember the photos from 2 months ago of Heath Ledger with green hair? I think there will be a trailer but only a teaser, kinda like the first Hulk trailer or original Spiderman trailer that had nothing to do with the actual film. Where did you hear it was a fake? I heard Total Film was stating it was a fake but everyone else near enough is going for it.
Sorry Simz, you misunderstand. Harry Potter 5 is done and dusted but when it is released it'll will have the new Batman flick trailer at the beginning. Or so the rumour goes.
EDIT: Personally, and I'm going out on a limb here, but I think the pic is real. If you go to the www.i believeinharveydenttoo.com site, you'll find the pics been taken down, you'll only find a message saying "PAGE NOT FOUND" but if you check the whole page for inviso text you'll see a big page of "HAHAHA!"s But read between the lines, True Believers. There's letters that are seemingly out of place. Get them all together and what do you get "See you in December" or in other words "Best Marketing For A Movie ever!" If, as Cactus says this is a fake, then Warner Bros better hire the guy behind this ruse because I think it's fucking great.

No doubt Moore will hate it, though. As good a writer as he is, he can be a snarky little bitch. Oh, and Ninny doesn't give two shits about comics. He's a twat like that. I'm hoping that Wanted (The criminal version of Watchmen) will be worth watching. They're changing shit up alot, from what I hear.

Spiderman 3 was pretty lame. It had its entertaining parts and great CGI, but the awful parts far out-weighed the good. I was able to put up with it until the cringe-worthy jazz scene. Man, that was painful to watch. Lame-ness 1.
I didn't like Topher Grace as Venom either. The reason for him to hate Parker was a little pathetic. Parker got the job that was rightfully his, after Grace's character cheated to win the job and was exposed. Seems fair enough to me. Plus, there was no real depth to the realationship of Grace's character and his girlfriend on screen, so we never really saw how in love they really were. Therefore, when Parker took out his girlfriend, we couldn't feel any sympathy for the dude at all, even though we were meant to hate Parker at this point. Lame-ness 2.
And I think they totally copped out with the whole amnesia angle. They realized it was too difficult to have three baddies fighting Spiderman all at once, so they made it totally unbelievable by having Harry lose his memory in a fight, thus weakening The Green Goblin's image. Lame-ness 3.
I could go on, but I don't want to. In closing, 1 and 2 were very good. 3 was very bad. Very, very bad. Very, very, very... Lame.

A bit late in many senses, but here's my two cents for what it's worth. It wasn't bad at all. Some of it was very good in fact. The main error was the Venom shoe in factor. It felt tacked on and done for the sake of it. I'm not a big fan of Venom so I wouldn't have missed him if he wasn't in it but if people were insisting that he had to be in it, why not make two movies back to back? Keep Spiderman 3 the way it was but don't add the creation of Venom till the end and that's the cliffhanger for Part 4, where Venom gets centre stage by himself. Part 2 ended on a cliff hanger with Harry Osbourn becoming Green Goblin (What was this Night Surfer shit?). So why not do another? Then part 4 could end with Doc Connors becoming The Lizard. But not only was Venom rushed, he wasn't executed well either. Topher Grace was miscast. His reason for hating Peter was weak and his relationship with Gwen Stacey was given no time for you to care about it and feel his anger towards Peter. This could have been given time to build throughout Part 3 but instead was rushed. The Black Suit was supposed to have special powers but we didnt really get to see that. Also it was an actual suit rather than a symbiote that took the form of what it's host thinks. It did that with Venom/Brock, why not Peter. It seems they've gone out of their way to please the fans but its had the opposite effect. Overall it wasn't bad, but with a little patience and the willingness to take a risk, it could have been so much better.
By the way, I loved the Saturday Night Fever thing. Cheesey as hell but it made me laugh and given that Peter Parker has always been a dork, it's good to see him act like one to that high level.
The Spider is done. Roll on the Dark Knight (Chuffed they've gone with that title for the film)

Spidey 3 was HORRIBLE. I'm just glad my friend and I were the only two in the theater, because we were making puns about the movie the whole time. Like when Sandman was bashing Spidey against a steel girder, I would say, "Thank you sir, may I have another?!"

A shot of everyone's Caped Crusader from the new Dark Knight film. No radical overhaul from the last film, but the helmet has more room for manuevre and the grooves have a certain Inca quality. No bat nipples though.

Never was a big fan of the bat nipples, made him look like some BDSM Seducter. Again, I think the modified suit, like in Begins, is much more appealing ... I hate the cartoony stuff, after seeing it in the first 4-5 movies.
I like the shoulder armor, I didn't notice that before, and the leg armor makes him look like a freaking war machine.. I love it. The helmet is ten times better, in this photo. Of course it might be more flexible in the movie, but it actually looks like a real helmet.
Right after Transformers, this is my next most hyped movie.. (Screw Harry Potter..)

So, since this thread has basically moved WAY off of Spider Man, I changed the name. It fits....
As far as a new Indiana Jones... fuck that. I just hope its not gonna end up like another movie they brought back. A certain Rocky movie. I could have lived without a new Rocky and I can live without a new Indiana Jones. I've come to the conclusion that James Bond will never ever... ever... FUCKING EVER... end.
On a side note, I saw the new Fantastic Four last night and I have to say... it wasn't bad. But then again, I enjoyed Spider Man 3 despite the fact that the fanboys bitched and cried about it so much. Just go to the fucking movie and expect a movie. Since its a movie, it doesn't have to abide by the strict storylines of comics.... anyways, I thought it was cool that Stan Lee showed up in this one too.
