Horrible incident. Makes me wonder where the world is heading. But I bet you anything the NRA will have called a rally in that town within the next 2 months.
What they were doing keeping the school open after the first incident while they knew he was still about, I'll never know.

I don't know why they fired him; I thought the phrase "nappy-headed ho's" was hilarious. ;D

I was in the student lounge (on a break between classes) when I saw this on CNN, and I was like, "Oh, shit." I actually cut class and went home that day 'cause I didn't feel right being at college at that point.
And if anything good came out of it, Seung-Hui killed himself. He's useless.

... After killing 33 people.
Nothing good came of this. Killing himself didn't make a difference, it was probably worse. More trauma for the people at the V-tech knowing that another person died (even though it was the killer), no comfort for the families, more bloodshed for the school, and another suicide ...
I honestly would have felt better if someone would have captured him/shot him down themselves - what he did was selfish and ignorant among otherthings..
(Sorry, I like to rant..)

And now the blame will surely fall to heavy metal.
I mean, face facts. Judas Priest goes on trial for "subliminal messages", Marylin Manson catches controversey from Columbine...this time the blame's going to fall on Shinedown, which was the most-played song on the guy's iPod.

I don't doubt it ..
I already heard someone ranting about CounterStrike and how violence in video games were now another factor. Supposedly the Asian Guy liked the shoot 'em ups too (big shocker), but is the media really to blame?
I swear to god, every time you turn around someone's blaming their parenting problems/kids misbehavior/lack of activity/laziness on video games in general. If video games (or heavy metal) were to blame for the death of 33 students, and the injury of 15 others the please ... strike me down now.

You're both wrong, Oldboy, a violent South Korean film, is getting the blame for this, which is still totally fucked up. But the good thing is that the US remake probably won't happen now. edit: Cho:

Hmmmm. Basically it comes down to this. People don't like certain things and when nasty shit like this happens, they use what they can to further their own personal agendas. Judas Preist didn't use subliminal messages, the two guys in question were dumb fucks. It's easier to blame Judas Priest, Marilyn Manson, Ozzy, Doom, Manhunt, Clockwork Orange, Old Boy etc etc because it's easier to digest. It's easier to think that such things are out there corrupting children and adults alike. Because a) "Concerned" parents don't like them. Don't understand them and what they don't understand they fear and want rid off . b) It's easier than trying to understand, disect and neutralize bullying.
And this seems to be the case already. Concerned parents and welfare groups are blaming Old Boy but every kid who knew this guy said he was bullied all the time by everyone. He became introverted and didn't speak to anyone and those who he did speak to always took the piss out of him because he was different. No way am I condoning what he did. That was just wrong. But surely there were plenty of opportunities for this to be averted? It's easy to say that now in hindsight. But instead of blaming a movie for the decay of a young man's emotional well being, maybe they should look at how we all interact with each other and the whole bullying culture that is rife through our society. There's another tragedy in this. The main tragedy is the death and carnage this boy (and that's what he was) caused, but the other tragedy is that a young boy was allowed to descend into madness. Throw in a gun culture which enables easy access to firearms and you get incidents like this. Time and time again.
Yet we do nothing.
