As we've seen on many occasions over the last few years, terrorists are at large in many of the worlds leading cities. Today, another of those cities suffered a horrific and sickening terrorist attack. Today, Londoners were murdered as they traveled to work in the rush hour. 33 people have already been confirmed dead, with several more still to be officially confirmed. In the unlikely event that you haven't heard what happened, read here. With this being only the first day of the G8 summit, can we expect anymore bombings tomorrow? We can only hope that is not the case. My question, where will it all end? Will we ever be able to totally eradicate terrorism, freeing the Innocent citizens of the world of a life of fear that, someday, thy may suffer the same atrocities that thousands of other people have in recent years? Where do the united world countries, battling to end terrorism, go from here?

No, it'll never end. That's my opinion.

'My question, where will it all end?'
It won't, terrorism is a faceless enemy, the only viable option when it comes to truly thwarting terrorism would mean taking away the very essence of sovereign culture, which is freedom.
Will we ever be able to totally eradicate terrorism, freeing the Innocent citizens of the world of a life of fear that, someday, thy may suffer the same atrocities that thousands of other people have in recent years?
How can you totally eradicate something that has always been around in some form or another? Whether it be Al-Qaeda, the Nazis, the numerous oppressive regimes that have impacted history; we have been exposed to a life of fear and tyranny to the point where no one knows or understands what the concept of 'peace' is. And despite humanity's completely naive and utopian thought processes, no one in history or before knew what 'peace' was. There is much more to peace than stopping the fighting. And let's face it, after the London public transportation bombings, the train bombings in Madrid, and 9/11, no one is 'innocent' anymore.
'Where do the united world countries, battling to end terrorism, go from here?'
Like I said, terrorism, sadly, isn't going anywhere. There is no battle to 'end terrorism', just a power struggle between sovereign countries and people willing to die for their cause, and implementing fear into the hearts of the masses works very, VERY well for terrorists.
I have a question, what is the definition of 'terrorism'?

It will never end, as long as al-Qaida is around. These terrorists disgust me.

It would be naive to think that Al-Qaeda is the ONLY terrorist network..
Surely there are others, such as Hamas... Al-Qaeda is only the most organized and coordinated.

You cannot stop terrorism. The only thing you can do is make it so people do not want to kill themselves anymore to destroy others. It's VERY difficult.

Terrorists are scum. And terrorism will never end. As long as there is hate between countries/regions/cultures, attacks will take place and innocent people will be barbarically murdered.
Yesterdays actions were atrocious. I had to leave college because I was so enraged and found no compassion or common disgust. Ignorance allows things like this to happen, and I was amidst it all. Just made me feel even more sick.
I haven't been around terrorism, but two of the tube stations that were attacked I was in no less than ten days ago. It makes you think ...

True statement. But I've never been around terrorism, have any of you? I lived in New York during 9/11 and watched the towers go down with my own eyes. There is no way "to end terrorism" per say; what G.W. should do is get on the podium and admit that the US was wrong from the door, that we lost and get the troops out of the Middle East. This is a war the US will not win--or should I say, the terrorists will not lose. They are too proud. U.S. and England started this whole "War of Terrorism" and that's the very thing that has put those countries on the shitlist. P.S.: Be careful riding the subway.

True statement. But I've never been around terrorism, have any of you? There are so many definitions for "terrorism" or "terrorist". A terrorist, in simple, can be defined as "one who creates terror". Take the Columbine Shootings as an example. The kids that committed the crimes were terrorists, by definition. They literally caused terror. Serial killers, violent gangs, killers (period) can all be considered terrorists. There will ALWAYS be warped minds until the end of ALL civilization. When I say "ALL" I really do mean ALL. Before the human, we had dinosaur. Meat eaters HAD to cause terror for the others. Anyway...to answer the question, it will never end.

For the first time in my life, I have been truly scared.
Last night, Birmingham, the 2nd city in England was closed down for a security check
Thats 80 miles from me, thats on my own doorstep.
Today, Don and I went to meet the kids and pick them up from their dad, who they have staed with this weekend, at Manchester train station.
Now Don and her ex get on, things are civilised enough for the 3 adults (me her and him) to have a chat bout things in general, or things to do with the kids, but not today. Today, we got the kids, exchanged plesantaries, promised each to call the other when we were home and went our seperate ways.
Not that we were arguing, we just didnt want to be stood in a packed train station, in one of the major cities in the UK. It's a target, and we didnt want to be part of the target.
We will carry on, of that I have no doubt, but things will be a lot more cautious now for a long long time.

Yikes..
I'm around it everyday. My job is to try and prevent terrorism plans from execution. And I work at one of the top terrorist targets in the world: Los Angeles International Airport.
Needless to say I'm happy when my shift ends everyday.
