Like Spaz, I'm not into comics, but I like the movies based on them.
And, for the record, Garfield the comic is the best, but the movie was the worst

I so wanna see this damn film one of these days.
I'll probably never read the comics, though, since they're stuck on my 'For Future Purchase' list, along with Batman: The Killing Joke and Sandman, and nothing ever leaves that list. Ever. I'm too hung-up on all things 2000AD.

okaaaay. regarding preacher, i doubt it will be made in the forseeable future and if it does it ain't gonna have anyone you'd want to see do it justice. last i heard, which was awhile ago, ben affleck was up for the main role and the woman who directed tank girl and freddy's dead was attached to direct. personally if that was still the case i'd rather my eyes got sucked out of my head.
as for watchmen, the film received the green light by paramount pictures to be their main picture for the summer of 2006. a script was written by david hayter, which has already received critical acclaim from fans and non-fans alike. darren aronofsky was attached to direct (check out his films Pi and requiem for a dream-both top films). aronofsky had been championing the film for a long time but had to pull out due to the green light being given to his dream project "the fountain" so a new director was found, paul greengrass (bloody sunday and bourne supremacy). paramount got right behind the picture and everything seemed to be peachy but then there was a change of executive personnel at the top of paramount and the film has been put on hold. that doesn't mean it's not going to be made anytime soon, simply put paramount need turning around, they haven't had a bona fide hit for near 10 years. this film, if it's to be done right needs a massive budget and they have to evaluate if this is going to reverse their fortunes. the director, script writer, alan moore (the creator) and production designer are now in the process of reselling the film back to paramount. hopefully thing will go well and we'll finally see the watchmen go against x-men 3 in 2007.
