I love this film soo much I am slighty upset by them updating a classic. However after watching the trailer which can be veiwed here chocolatefactorymovie.warnerbros.comIt seem that they are at least sticking quite well to the orginal. Tim Burton looks to make this scary for kids and I think it will only be a hit for the adults like me who like the original. On a different matter because of a shortage of midgets they had to clone Kenny Baker ( R2D2 in star wars ) to play all the oompa loompa's

I think it'll basically be a carbon copy, but Depp seems like he's gonna play the character as more of a snob and psycho, rather than the original where he just came off as uncaring.
Either way, the philosophy has been "if it has Depp, it can't be all bad"

Well i got this last night, after very uncomfortable hour i switched it off, they are not sticking to either the orginal film or the book, Johny depp comes off as a prick who likes no-one, the actors are awful, little things like the wrong parents go in, the kids are different like mike teevee does not watch television eating junk food allday he is a computer geek who just buys 1 bar using his formula and wins.
Small things i know but it ruins the whole film i would give this about 1.5/10
Anyone else seen this and if so do you agree or disagree ?

I saw this film at the weekend. Very, very weak for a Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration. I left the cinema quite disappointed. It wasn't all bad though and I seemingly enjoyed it a lot more than Cactus did. I thought Johnny Depp played Willy Wonka well. You can't mess with the classic Gene Wilder characterisation, but Wonka was a lot different this time around so it is hard to say who was better. The rest of the film was very poorly cast and overall I'd give it a 4.5/10

If you've read the book Tim Burtons actually follows the book to a tee. The original, doesn't. I don't know I wasn't to crazy about Johnny Depp's voice but he did an outstanding job. It wasn't abd at all just wasn't crazy about it.

I'm watching this right now. I really hated the original film. This film is supposed to follow the book properly but add a few bits about Wonka's childhood.
It's okay so far, not great but not bad.
