On a new dress code ...
The NBA will implement a uniform dress code for players wearing street clothes this year. "We were encouraged by the teams and coaches to do it," Stern said. "We're going to have a dress code regarding the way players are attired when they come to work. Players who are injured and sitting on the bench are going to be more attired like the coaches, the way the coaches dress -- basically a jacket over business-casual."

This is geared to players like A.I., T-Mac even LeBron. I can't see A.I. rocking a suit if he injured. That nigga will watch from the locker room.
I say it's about time.

^exactly.
Niggas and thugs don't set good examples. And besides, no rule or NBA enforcer on Earth will get my nigga A.I. in a suit. Like Stare and Shinns actually getting along, it just won't happen.

A suit to me would send the wrong image, A.I in a suit would look like the accused, even if it was a meet and greet mighty mouse would be dressed as he see's. As a fa if I seen A.I in a suit I would think that I had been fobbed off with a body double as there is no way he would rock a suit.

Not that he wouldn't look good in one, but he's just too stubborn to conform to the clean cut look.

To me, a decent shirt and slacks will suffice.
You can abide by the dress code without looking like a defendent.

Yes but to make them wear "uniform" when they are not playing is a little extreme IMO

Most sports have progressed from just being an entertainment source. They are multi-million *insert currency here* businesses, therefore, I think, should enforce rules that show this. This is one of them. These guys are getting paid a fortune. The least they can do is wear smart clothing while representing their place of employment. Whether they are actually playing or not.

I see what you're saying, and I can understand why you would think that. When I got out to make a sales presentation, I dress up in the suit and tie, and even run my jeep through the car wash, because it reflects well on the company. Many NBA players do this, and many owners and coaches encourage it, because not only does it reflect on the team, but on the league as a whole. But anyone who has been to "the hood" in the United States will understand that many people who live and die by the hood think that putting on a suit and tie is selling out to "whitey's corporate America." Whether there is truth to that, you be the judge. It's just the mentality and I don't think it will ever die. As a result, you've got clean cut players like C. Webber, who will don an Italian wool suit if he's on the sidelines. And you've also got A.I., wearing cornrows, an oversized shirt and baggy jeans. In his mind, he's keeping it real.

Here's a for-instance, if you worked in an office, could you get away with rocking a hoodie and jeans? No, of course, if you are doing a job as a professional then you are expected to abide by any and all rules. You can keep it real without wearing an Italian wool suit. Jay-Z is one of the realest out and he still wears a suit from time to time, why can't some of these NBA players.
It's not selling out to whitey/corporate America if you are asked to represent yourself and the company you work for in a professional manner when not on the court. Wear some church clothes to interviews and leave it at that, or do your interviews in the locker room.

The NBA All-Star Game had taken some serious hits over the past couple of years. Last year, the big brawl in Detroit involving the Indiana Pacers was fresh on people minds and in 2004, the potential lockout and collective bargaining headaches were looming. So yeah, I could see why you'd say that. It will still be an awesome event though.

I agree that the collegiate game is more competitive, primarily because the players have more to prove and aren't making the million and millions (of the Rock's fans) of dollars that tend to spoil NBA players. But a true fan understands and appreciates the game. i don't know shit about ice hockey, but millions of people around do. For me to say that it sucks simply because I don't like it or don't understand it, would make me look ignorant and foolish.
