Alright, this will be quick and dirty, as I'm putting this out MAAD late. Last week..... well, the Pats scored 38 -- again, and are still looking impressive, stat line of the week: QB Tom Brady - 10 TDs and one INT going into this week. RB Deuce McAllister, the catalyst of the Saints Offense, is done for the year (Torn ACL), and with his season being over, the Saints 2007 campaign is now unofficially over. Speaking of done, QB Rex Grossman is now done, some may say he was overdone, but he is done nonetheless, as backup journeyman QB Brian Griese starts for the offensively challenged and rather beleaguered Bears, who basically got run over by RB Marion Barber last week against the Cowboys. On to this week....
Sunday
Texans at Falcons: Houston will bounce back after being outmatched last week against Indy, The Falcons.... will lose.....again. My pick: Texans. Atlanta's forgettable campaign continues.
Ravens at Browns: Look for the Browns Offense to revert back to form this week after 2 weeks with lots of points on the board. Baltimore's D is tough as nails and will force turnovers this week. My pick: Ravens. The Browns have improved, but their outmatched this week.
Raiders at Dolphins: OK, so Miami RB Ronnie Brown decided to push collegiate numbers last week with a ridiculous 200+ Total Yards and 3 TDs (2 Rush, 1 Rec.), and LB Joey Porter decided to get on the news this week and guarantee a win. My pick: Raiders. In the state of parity that the league is in these days, people should know not to guarantee things. After a statement like that, RB LaMont Jordan should be primed for a career day against the declining Dolphins D.
Bears at Lions: All of a sudden, this is a marquee matchup, Detroit is just one game behind the Pack in the Division and is looking for redemption after a humbling beatdown in Philly. The Bears, meanwhile, benched Grossman and are starting QB Brian Griese. My pick: Lions. QB benchings and anemic offenses make for long days against high-flying offenses.
Jets at Bills: The luck for the Bills just gets worse, QB JP Losman is out indefinitely with an MCL sprain after an illegal hit was put on him last week by New England. So the Bills will likely lean heavily on the run this week. The Jets, who have QB issues of their own, are getting Chad Pennington back this week, and that could mean big trouble for a banged-up Bills D. My pick: Jets. Teams without starting QBs look virtually lost out there, so look for an already tough Bills season to be tougher without Losman.
Packers at Vikings: The Pack is riding high after fizzling the Bolts last week at home, the Vikings have the top-rated D in just about all fantasy leagues right now, and they get starting RB Chester Taylor back from injury. While QB Brett Favre goes for history this week, the Vikings rushing attack should look real solid against the Pack's front 7. My pick: I'll go upset special here and pick the Vikings. Favre will make history, but Taylor and RB Adrian Peterson will wear down the Packer D and hand Green Bay their first loss of the season.
Rams at Cowboys: Meanwhile, the NFL's OTHER really impressive team, the Cowboys, draw the hard-luck Rams, who are coming off a Touchdown-free performance last week in Tampa. My pick: Cowboys. They are playing so well right now, and even though the Dallas secondary gives up a lot of big passing plays, their Front 7 will be chasing after QB Marc Bulger all day. this one won't be close.
Seahawks at 49ers: Seattle pulled one out against the Bengals last week -- barely, but they give up a lot of passing yards which could really hurt them if QB Alex Smith finds a rhythm and a target, which he might not have with TE Vernon Davis out. My pick: Seahawks. Seattle has played good ball, but not great ball, RB Shawn Alexander will wear down the Niner D, and RB Frank Gore could have another big game, but he needs help in the passing game, as Seattle's D is solid against the run.
Buccaneers at Panthers: Tampa's D is hard-hitting, fast, and explosive, and they get to salivate bum-rushing a Panthers' offense without QB and team leader Jake Delhomme. While they get an upgrade in overall skill in backup QB David Carr, they are severely downgraded in leadership, poise, and game management this week. My pick: Buccaneers. While this figures to be one of the week's top matchups, it won't be a high-scoring game, which gives the advantage to the better defense and more ground-oriented offense, both of which belong to Tampa Bay.
Chiefs at Chargers: The Bolts are rebounding from a mistake-filled loss in Green Bay, while KC squeaked one out against Minnesota last week. My pick: Chargers. The Bolts will bounce back at home as they outmatch the Chiefs in every possible way, this shouldn't be close.
Broncos at Colts: The Broncos can move the ball, but they can't get in the end zone, and subsequently lost to a horrible Jags team last week, Indy is 3-0, at the top of their division, and beat a good Texans team. My pick: Colts. Broncos are outmatched, and Indy's D will make reaching the end zone tough for Cutler and Co.
Steelers at Cardinals: Warner or Leinart to Boldin and Fitzgerald. Willie Parker.... LOTS of Willie Parker, but no Hines Ward. Could mean trouble for Pitt. My pick: Steelers. The 'Zona D still hasn't shown up, which could mean a WHOLE LOT of Willie Parker.
Eagles at Giants: A couple weeks ago, McNabb and Co. looked dead in the water, as did the Giants. But a taming of the Lions by Philly and late FG proppelling Eli and Co. gave both teams big wins and momentum last week. My pick: Eagles. The Giants D is still marginal at best and that could mean another high-score for Philly.
Monday
Patriots at Bengals: Brady and Palmer are off to ridiculous starts, Moss leads the league in receptions and receiving TDs, Johnson leads in receiving yards and is only one behind Moss in the TD area, and overall both Offenses are playing great. My pick: Patriots. Defense on the other hand, give New England a distinct advantage as the Bengals simply don't have one, and even if they did, they'd be outmatched.
Bye Weeks
Jaguars - Well, they can't lose this week.
Saints - A week to think about offense without Deuce.
Redskins - OK, after a tough loss to the Giants, this should be a refresher
Titans - VY gets to take the load off his shoulders this week. Must be nice.
Quick Picks:
Texans
Ravens
Raiders
Lions
Jets
Vikings *Upset Special*
Cowboys
Seahawks
