Okay, as of yet I havent watched the event over again on DVD, as my attention went to disc 3, which is the special features.
On this, includes a 40 in documentary following the main eventers for WM XIX
Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Rock
Kurt Angle
Brock Lesnar
The Undertaker
Vince McMahon
Hulk Hogan
Triple H
Booker T
Chris Jericho
Shawn Michaels
I found it an honest, interesting and emotional documentary. I found myself in tears at the end of the Rock v Austin match. Only Rock, Austin and J.R. knew this was Steve Austin's last match.
I was intrested to know, immediately after the 3 count, what The Rock said to Austin, but true to character, Thr Rock wont reveal what went on.
Even the camera shot, of Austin, after the match, tired in J.R.'s dressing room,. when The Rock walks in and shuts the door, leaving us outside, is emotional.
The aspect of Y2J coming out of character, to say how he feels about Shawn Michaels, is extraordinary, along with HBK's refusal to reveal what exactly changed his outlook on life, makes for compelling viewing.
The story of Kurt Angle, who, as we all know, wrestled the WWE Championship Match, with a broken neck. Brock Lesnar, showing no fear, until the very moment he stepped out into Safeco, the day before. This showed an unknown side of Brock to me, and it was one I liked.
The shooting star press, Angle's collapse afer the match, all combined with the commentary of Jesse Ventura did, again make for compelling viewing.
The fact that the HHH vs Booker T and Vince v Hogan, only qualified for the Deleted Scenes section, in a way dissappointed me, but only because the documentary would not have suffered without them.
Both showed all 4 characters in a glowing light. The fact that Vince McMahon said " Apart from the result, I'd do it alll again right now" seconds having walked off the field a loser, showed me once and for all, the Vince truly loves the industry in the same way we all do.
All told, I do recommend anyone, and everyone to buy, or borrow WrestleMania XX. The simple reason is disc 3.
I have (fortunately) one of the 6.000 limited editions (the ones with the film cell, backstage pass, laminated ticket etc). But for whatever you want to pay for it, the 3 disc set is a very, very rare breed.
The Special Features Disc is worth the RRP alone.
If you own, or have borrowed and seen this, post views here.
