if you look up wrestling on the Internet, all you get is people praising Chris Benoit, but is the praise deserved?
Chris Benoit is undoubtedly the second best technical wrestler in the WWE (after King Kurtthough that too is debatable as some people quite obviously consider Benoit better than Angle & I respect that).
But, no matter how great he can be in ring & he can be superb, he lacks everything everywhere else.
Fans of the WWE try to protect the champ by saying "His mic skills are improving" but deep down we know that the statement is pure BS. He is approaching 40 and its too late to improve anything as humanly basic as verbal skills now in this area he will always be second, or even third best. Mind you he's not the worst mic worker either there are penty worse. Also in the perfect wwe world wrestlers would get over on skill not looks & mic work.
Chris Benoit has been secondary to HHH on RAW because unlike his friend Eddie over at SD, he doesnt have the goods to be called a successfull champion. (Of course Eddie is no longer champ but he was for most of Benoits reign.)
Actually, HHH is carrying Benoit, making him look like a threat even when he doesnt speak a word. Simply put, HHH is doing Benoit's work for him. Now i'm no fan of HHH as such either but he is carrying Benoit during their promos. (Of course Benoit carries HHH in the ring lest we forget.)
So is Benoit overrated well in a word no because once he gets in the ring you forget all about his 'so called faults', but is he the right man to be carrying the Raw brand as champ sorry but the answer is also no. Benoit is just not championship material in WWE land where mic skills / acting in angles is just as important if not more so than athletic ability.
That of course is not a good thing because Benoit is the best champ in years but it is a fact of life for WWE superstars. I for one don't see a second reign for Benoit any time soon after he looses the belt, in fact I see him falling into the same boat as the other Chris Jericho. Always refering to himself as the first Undisputed champ but never actually getting the belt again.
Now any thread like this is going to have the pro benoit fans up in arms but instead of replying with comments like "You're mad Benoit is great" or other one line replies try & logicially think about what I have said here & reply as you honestly feel.
