I found this story on Sky News webiste, and Im not sure if it's heartbreaking, or a sign of the times.
I didnt think anything shocked me any more, but this did
'HEART ATTACK' BOY
A 13-year-old Briton has reportedly died from a heart attack after a beach drinking session in Menorca.
Alexandros Antonopoulos was holidaying with his family at Santa Tomos when he collapsed and died.
Toxicology tests have been ordered to find out if the youngster from Bridgend, south Wales, was suffering from an illness which made him more susceptible to alcohol.
His uncle, Anthony Hontoire said: "We don't know what the exact circumstances are yet."
But it is believed the schoolboy had a drinking session on a beach after buying beer and spirits from a nearby supermarket.
He returned to the hotel where he was staying with his family, complaining of feeling ill.
He was then said to have been found unconscious in his bed by his parents and taken to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

okay, i've read this a few times now and a few things cross my mind
1) What was he doing buying booze at 13, let alone enough to kill him, on holiday or not.
2) where were his parents?
3) where the fucking hell were his parents??
I said that twice because I just cant get over it!
thoughts?

It seems like the parents condoned him drinking. Absolutely appaling.
Such a waste of a young life.

That's some shit . . . that's all I know to say to that.
I agree with Rocky, it does seem that was his parents standpoint.

I agree. I was brought up in a household where going out and binge drinking every week was the norm. My mum took me out for a drink on a Friday night when I was about 14. I had problems when I was younger controlling the amount of alcohol I drunk. I have had to work hard to sort that out.
My ex however, was brought up in a Spanish household and there was wine available at every meal. If he wanted a drink of wine, he could. He drinks in moderation. I do think that is a better way to go IMO

Drinking in moderation is fine, WHEN you are old enough to know when you have had enough.
UKG in answer to your 2 questions his parents were probably propping up a bar asd could not give 2 fucks where the child was as they probably said "I am on me hols the kid can look after himself"
For any to die this way is wrong but for a 13 old boy, well thats just too messed up for words.

Don't they card there for alcohol? And if they do, whoever sold him the alcohol, needs to be in trouble as well as the parents.

In Europe, and in Britain, they do card now
Girls, as long as they are dressed "correct" (boobs out, legs showing no panties) can get into any bar or club, coz the doorman presume they are in with a chance
(Dunno if its the same in the States, but our doorman, 6ft black jacket bald head, knuckles scraping on the floor)
For guys, they fall into two groups
1) Those lucky enough to be asked for i.d. even when they are in their late 20s
2) Guys like me who went to clubs at 15, and have never, and will never be asked for i.d.
