I find it hard to believe that they couldn't conjure up an Austin v. Hogan match. Inserting these two greats would have given the hair v. hair match the flavor they are looking for. Either there is something they are not telling us (like WWE being on the verge of bankrupcy) or Austin's neck really is one bump away from paralysis.

Austin didn't want to work with Hogan. He has heat with him. Hogan's a fag. I don't blame Austin.

It comes down to this. Both men aren't prepared to job to the other. Austin's reckoning is he's got one good match left in him but he isn't prepared to use it to put over Hogan, who he genuinely believes would use the opportunity to go into business himself. Hogan just wants the big money involved, plus by going over Austin, cementing his position (in his head) that he is the greatest wrestler of all time. Basically, it's never going to happen. It was scheduled for Mania 18. But Austin didn't want to know. Austin can't stand Scott Hall, but he dislikes Hogan more. Which explains why his match was near the beginning of the card and contributed to Austin's hiatus shortly after.

Never thought of it that way. I heard Austin was originally scheduled to job to Scott Hall but opted out at the last minute. I am wondering out loud why Hogan would job to The Rock, but not to Austin. Curious. On a side note, even though Mania 23 is shit, you've gotta love the Lumberjill Match. All that pussy around the ring has got to be good for something.....

Yeah Austins dislike for Hogan goes all the way back to his days in WCW. Flair was the booker at the time and was slowly building Austin up for a main event run, possibly even a world title run. That all came crashing down when first Austin got injured, and while he was hurt, WCW brought in Hogan. Shortly there after Austin received a pink slip from WCW.That led him to ECW and those anti WCW promos. And the beginnings of the Stone Cold persona.
So Austin vs Hogan will never happen except in your Raw vs Smackdown video game. Both men have creative control over their characters. So Vince can't just tell one of them that they are gonna have to do the job to the other. Hogan is infamous for using his creative control to suit his purpose i.e. match vs HBK. I think Vince would have to sign over half of the WWE to either man before they would even entertain the idea of laying down for the other.
Lumberjills ain't a bad thing, they are a good thing [/DDP]

Ashley's hot as fuck.
Anyway, I'm going with CM Punk for the MITBLM. It doesn't make sense for Kennedy to win because he's already a main eventer on Smackdown! And with this whole steroid thing blowing up, I think Edge and Orton will be in the doghouse. And since he's the only ECW guy in it and the odds are stacked against him, and Vince is looking to push the new ECW to the moon, CM Punk it is.

Somehow I'm torn between CM Punk winning the MITBLM, and a screwy finish where RATED RKO wins by grabbing the briefcase at the same time. It would allow Edge to keep his streak, and lead to a feud between the man who further stretched Lita's lips and roid boy.

Glad Taker won. And the match was booked perfectly as well. Short and sweet. Though I wonder why Taker said to the ref to "Get him out of the ring!" Hmmm. Curious.
Cena won. I wanted HBK to win and was sure it was going to happen but then I knew as he came out it wasn't meant to be. He either wasn't into it or he's beginning a heel turn. Though to be honest, I thought he was on something during the first five minutes. If you watch it again, check out his eyes. But looking at a possible bigger picture, this ending, though disappointing may lead to something a tad better. A full HBK heel turn? I can dig that. WWE signing Harry Smith, Nattie Neidhart and Teddy Hart to be the new Hart Foundation? Chris Benoit going over to Raw? All these are in the process of coming together. And on the 10 year anniversary of the Montreal Screwjob (TM) What a coincidence...
