Discuss SummerSlam 2006 here...
I'm looking forward to Rey Mysterio v. Chavo G the most. I think if they give it enough time, given the talent of the two superstars involved, it could end up being match of the night.
- Edge/Cena has been done to death and WWE could do us the favor and end it at SS
- Not really buying into the Orton/Hogan hype for some reason. Probably because the outcome is usually the same: Hogan goes over someone he should be putting over.
- King Booker/Batista has a little "real life" history to it, but not enough attention has been paid toward this build. We know Dave wants "his" title back and King Booker is king of the World. Two and two could figure this one goes well past SS and maybe even to Mania.
Taker/Khali will be shit regardless of the stip. I thought WWE learned to not do this again from the Giant Gonzales experiment.

agreed, but chavo could be a little rusty since he's been off so much, so im going to have to go with DX vs. The McMahons

The whole DX/McMahon thing seems to have run its course. It started out well back in June, then it has been done EVERY single week since then. It wore out its own welcome...

It would be nice to know, at this point, whether they are seriously considering keeping DX around after SummerSlam, or will the McMahons win the match and kill it once and for all.
If ECW has a match on this card, I hope RVD/Sabu/Kurt Angle and the Big Show get the green light.

RVD is suppose to return this weekend, according to rumors. I found it interesting that he served the full suspension, yet Sabu was let off the hook early. Early enough to appear on [glow=red,2,300]Saturday Night's Main Event.[/glow]

If I understand it correctly, Sabu never was suspended from the company. They gave him a fine and that was it.
As for the Edge/Cena match, I agree its time to end it. They have been feuding off and on since Royal Rumble. And the stipulation they used is all wrong. I can see them using that if Edge was challenging for the belt. He could try to get Cena disqualified or counted out so he could take the cheap way out to win the belt.
I can see DX winning this match but have something happen during or right after the match to either give Shawn his reason to go get the knee surgury or to kickstart the Orton/HHH feud.
ECW will most likely have a match at Summerslam. If I was to be a betting man I would say it would be Big Show vs Sabu.

Considering Umage is technically feuding with DX, I would think he'll cost them the match, and injure shawn in the process (to explain surgery time). After that, HHH will feud with Umaga a bit, and Orton will come in later.

^Makes sense since the WWE has faith in the big fella; so much faith that he's gone over Cena, HBK and maybe even Hunter.
As for Orton, I don't know what to make of him: I've been wanting to see Orton/Cena for the longest time, and if Cena gets the title back, then the E could pull the trigger on this potential money-maker.

Watching Cena come out here on Raw, it dawned on me. Cenas movie "The Marine" comes out next month. So he will be off promoting that movie. You think that the WWE will want to have him with the title when he is off trying to get people to go spend their money to watch his crappy movie or let Edge continue to be champ and devote all his time to wwe?

maybe that's why Carlito got speared by Edge?
Then again, wouldnt putting the belt on Cena put the focus on him even more, thus build the movie up more?
Who knows

Yeah but I am sure that the WWE would want Cena flying all over the place to promote "The Marine". That wouldn't leave him much time to devote to being the WWE Champion. Carlito facing Edge could be a nice feud to last till after Cena is done promoting his movie. Remember when Kane took some time off so he could promote?

True.
And if we rewind a bit further, The Rock dropped the WWE title to Hunter and Steve Austin various times while he was off promoting The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King, respectively.

Not all matches are confirmed, but the matches I'm most looking forward to so far, in order are as follows:
1:: Mick Foley vs Ric Flair - I Quit Match
In my opinion, this is actually going to be the best match on the card. Maybe a verbal debate would be better. The segments on RAW the past couple of weeks have been awesome. Something tells me it's going to be good.
2:: Chavo Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio - N/A
Meh. Not much to say really. It'll no doubt be as good as the other times they meet, but it's been done badly. Who's death are they going to exploit next? Ah well. Vicky doesn't seem to care.
3:: King Booker vs Batista - World Heavyweight Championship
I'd much rather have a Batista/Kennedy fued continue on through SummerSlam. I think their matches have been more than decent and probably better than the match with Booker will be. Maybe even a triple threat. Either way, it should be a decent match. They'll need to hype it more on SmackDown! though.
4:: D-generation X vs The McMahons - N/A
Been hyped a lot. Since far before WrestleMania22. I think it's probably time to end it. I'm not sure, 'cause I do enjoy seeing the McMahons in an active roll on RAW. I'm also intrigued as to where DX are going. Will this be it or will they continue with the stable?
5:: Hulk Hogan vs Randy Orton - N/A
Can't say I really want to see it that match. It'll be a decent match, but I don't see the point. Okay, so we got the thing at Saturday Night's Main Event. Still pretty pointless and someone who Hulk will obviously beat. He wouldn't let HBK go over him so why somebody like Orton?
6:: Edge vs John Cena - WWE Championship
For the love of God, let this thing end! It's been done to death. Started at New Year's Revolution and still going. Please end it. Let Edge win and make way for the Edge/Lita vs Carlito/Trish feud. If Cena wins, I'll cry. I couldn't stand to see him as the 3 time WWE champion.
7:: Undertaker vs The Great Khali - Last Man Standing
.
Well, there are my thoughts. It took so damn long to do, but I just wanted to make all the event names prettyful.

I am suprised by Friday Night Smackdown! and ECW's lack of participation in SummerSlam with the event being a mere 10 days away. Right now, it has the feel of a RAW only ppv.

I think SmackDown! has 3, RAW has 4 and ECW has 1.

The World Heavyweight Championship should be kept on King Booker for the time being simply because he is the most entertaining sports entertainer on Friday Night Smackdown! at the moment. The whole King of the Ring tournament to the title win to this whole "King of the World" deal has overshadowed the "much anticipated" return of Batista (at least in this negro's eyes) and in order to keep the momentum going, have Big Dave chase the King for at leat another couple of months until No Mercy. By then, Chris Benoit would have returned and a Booker/Benoit program for the World Title could headline the likes of Armaggedon and No Way Out.
