WWE had their usual press conference today to go over their latest financial numbers which were released yesterday. Below are the major news items that were covered during the conference:
- A question was asked if WWE would add more "mixed brand" PPVs due to the low buyrates for the single brand PPVs. Linda McMahon said no, that WWE would stick to four mixed brand PPVs per year. She also noted that they are adding more single brand PPVs such as running two PPVs in June and October of this year.
- One person asked if WWE's recent loss of talent is the reason why the Smackdown Judgment Day PPV did such a low buyrate. Linda McMahon more or less ignored the question and said that the buyrate was low because Judgment Day was a RAW brand PPV last year.
- Linda McMahon said that, despite the ratings drops, WWE and Spike TV are in talks to renew WWE's TV deal which expires in September of 2005.
- WWE's current Diva Search will finish with a special on Spike TV July 15th. Linda compared it to American Idol and America's Top Model Search.
- WWE will be running an angle where RAW and Smackdown will elect a "WWE President" who will oversee both brands. The angle will happen around the time of the real Presidential Election.
- Tough Enough will return soon as part of Smackdown. Segments will be mixed into the Smackdown shows each week.
- Episodes of RAW and Smackdown will be taped in the United Kingdom later this year.
- It was again confirmed that WWE is working on two motion pictures right now.

The angle with the president sounds really stupid, but I guess we'll see how it works out.
Taped RAW and SD from the UK sounds good.
I won't be watching the Diva Search... I could care less about it.
Tough Enough returning = Good. Give it its own show though!
WWE Movies? Bah.
Thoughts?
