Master of the Squared Circle (more commonly referred to as MSC) is an online wrestling strategy game. Unlike traditional wrestling games, MSC's gameplay is more akin to Adam Ryland's Wrestling Spirit, as compared to the SD! series. The core mechanics of the game involve several factors that must be considered in order to best out your opponent (another human player on the server), such as managing your adrenaline (momentum), health, stun, and pin chance. Because of these elements the winner(s) of the match are due to skill, rather than luck.
Game Mechanics: The game's engine is very much emphasized on realistic match flow. So one should not expect to be able to take his opponent to the top turnbuckle and connect with a Top Rope Belly-to-Belly suplex on turn 9. But after gradually wearing your opponent down with arm drags, strike contests, suplexes, and submissions you can then lay waste to your opponent with a numerous amount of trademark maneuvers and finishers (specific to each superstar), such as Goblin's Big Leg Drop, or Electric's One Arm Slam or his Electric Elbow. The actual game engine is incredibly in-depth, and can come off a bit overwhelming to new players, however the community is always there to help, train, and hone your skills so you can also be a dominant force in the squared circle. The game is in no way a card game, however you CAN bring 3 special cards along with your wrestler to help him in certain areas/instances during the match, such as Crowd Chant to give you a 10+ boost in adrenaline when you're ready to finish your opponent off, Biased Referee to give you a +5% to +20% extra pin chance bonus, or Jane to deliver a Jane-canrana to your opponent when he attempts to deliver airbourne punishment from the top rope! There are over 100 different special cards you can choose from to decide which matches your style, and the wrestler you're using at the time!
Wrestler Selection: MSC features a large variety of SS's to be purchased from the MSC store (currently 102). Including, heavyweights, cruiserweights, japanese stars, independant stars and more. All of which have their own unique characteristics, including specials, health, starting adrenaline, stamina etc. Each wrestler has certain nuances that make them similar to actual names you may be aware of. By downloading (for free) the unofficial MSC mod (created by the community) you will access actual wrestler pictures, trademark videos, move and description renames. Turning Electric into The Rock, Fire Warrior into Kenta Kobashi, Marbles into AJ Styles, Hooligan into Nigel McGuinness and many more!
Community: The game has several tournaments held weekly, such as the US/International/and Tag Team Championship tournaments. Once per month, are also World Title Tournaments, the winner of each of these tournaments faces the current champion(s) and if they succeed to become the new title holder(s) they will recieve "special cards" specific and unique to each title to give your wrestler an edge during his matches (as mentioned before). There are also "federations" built among the community such as the "Crash Test Dummies" which is a fed built around storylines, feuds, and fun competition. Players can participate to win CTD titles in events, and by winning matches and cutting promos you can earn "CTD Points" which once the player as accumulated enough of these, can exchange them for title shots, or even new wrestler packs!
Registration: Thanks to a new registration system, new players can now join the game for free and recieve 4 superstars for free! Dragon, Cowboy, Electric, and Crippler. Or, Ultimo Dragon, JBL, The Rock, and Yugi Nagata respectively if you've downloaded the unofficial MSC mod provided on the MSC forums by the community.
