Sometimes I don't get it, Vince seems to think that jumping over to one of the "big 3" will result in bigger ratings. But, the fact is the 80's ratings tanked after only a few SME's, or else NBC would've gladly hung on to it. Those who will watch the new SME will be the same as those who already watch RAW and Smackdown, with the possibility of lower ratings as it's on Saturday night.
The positive thing about this to a hardcore fans like us is that it may give us an additional show once in awhile, unless they drop a RAW/Smackdown episode during the weeks SME airs.

sweet!
Hopefully this won't be a higlight show. I would assume it'll be co-brand matches from lower card wrestlers.

Why do I feel the urge to see Jesse Ventura and Vince McMahon commentate, Vince with his 80s do, and Jesse, well.....*ponders* hes was just Jesse

....Jesse with the feather necklace, sunglasses and bandana to hide the shiny spot in the middle of his dome. I don't think it will have the same feel as it did back then, I mean we were kids and saw it from a different point of view. Even the last few SNME, which were broadcast on Fox, were not all that great, save maybe for HBK defeating the Bulldog to capture his first Intercontinental title.
One of the more memorable episodes for me was when Andre the Giant "defeated" Hulk Hogan and took the WWF Championship. He then "awarded" the belt to DiBiase. Amusing. But the most colorful part of the match was seeing two Earl Hebner's (Dave) battle it out to see who was the legit ref.

Back in the day Saturday Night's Main Event was awesome. I don't know how well it will be received today. I hope they do the cheesy locker room interviews before the matches, those rocked.

With the blue SNME wallpaper and everything. Won't be the same without "Mean" Gene Okerlund though.

Mean Gene was the best. The only thing that worries me is this. 2 things made SNME special
1. It didn't come on every week
2. It came on during the "jobber" era when WWF Superstars showed alot of matches that weren't worth watching. You can't even say that it was on the level of Velocity.
So when you're used to watching Billy Jack Haynes vs. Barry Horowitz type matches every week. When SNME came on, you had something to get excited about. Could SNME bring big ratings or be considered a "special" program when you get som high quality matches on RAW. Would SNME be another SD ?

Hey, hey, be careful there. Smackdown! isn't that bad. It's been better than RAW for the past couple of months. Think about it. When was the last time Smackdown! had to resort to sex in the ring in order to get ratings?

I'm interested in its first main event though. That should be a hard one to predict.

I'm glad SD hasn't resorted to the "sex sells" era yet, but still, they're runnin a lil low on World champion calibur guys right now.

I hope not.
EDIT: It most likely will be used as a way to hype Wrestlemania 22 for the following month. Hopefully it is a "freebie PPV" since WWE doesn't have any scheduled for the month of March.

There will probably be two or three 'big' matches plus a contract signing for the Wrestlemania Main Event. They could also throw in a return of Hulk Hogan I guess for nostaglia sake.
Is it going to be shown here in the UK? Hope so for the hell of it sort of thing.

I don't recall if it was Saturday Night's Main Event or not, but I remember the time when Jake the Snake told Rick Rude the next time he wore a pair of tights with Cheryl Roberts' face on the front he was going to take them off him. Funny enough, Rude wore the tights, and Jake came running to the ring and stripped him. Then, from out of nowhere, this big black "X" came on screen to cover Rude's pelvis area. We were so naive as kids. We actually thought the live audience had the priviledge saw Rick Rude's penis flapping all around.
