I say they're both garbage. Pop sucks, and I'll just assume the "punk" (since its Green Day and Offspring for the US side) is watered down pop bullshit. No thanks.
Boy bands always sucked. Even the New Kids on the Block and I had more respect for them than I did the last bunch of miscreants of the 90's.
Also: Fallout Boy, Maroon 5, and for the most part Franz Ferdinand don't belong in the "rock" section. Fallout boy is gay, which goes to emo, which is more pop... the others don't even come close. It would have been better to have the rock section be more along the lines of Led Zepplin vs. Lynyrd Skynard or Pink Floyd vs. ZZ Top just for shits and giggles.
And if Avril Lavigne is considered a rock chick, then she deserves EVEN MORE REASON to be burned alive. A better listing could be made, while this one is very... VERY english Biased just on first glance. You wouldn't even have to watch the videos to see who'd win.
Hell the closest match up on it is, Queen vs. Bon Jovi

the reason it's not Led Zep or Floyd is that i wanted the list to be of contemporary bands... plus, we all know if i made a list of 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's bands, the UK ones would kick all kinds of ass.
as for me choosing the Ferdies, well they're as good a rock band as any. the UK doesn't really 'do' metal anymore. hell, i couldn't name a single UK metal band other than Iron Maiden. and Avril is the closest to a 'popular' rock chick as the US has had since Debbie Harry.
also, i wouldn't call the Sex Pistols or the Clash 'watered down pop bullshit'.
i don't think my list is UK biased at all. hell, N'sync, Justin, Christina, Nora Jones, Green Day, Offspring and Bon Jovi are all world famous, world renowned acts. but if it'll please you i'll happily put a 'Nostalgia' section on the list and put The Beatles up against The Beach Boys, or Kate Bush up against Karen Carpenter... maybe John Lennon v Bruce Springsteen?

In this order:
No comment. Studdard (just because I've heard of him and heard one of his songs) No comment. Timberlake (hate him with a passion, but I want to be him) Don't care. Don't care. Too close to call, but Queen. Can't stand either of 'em. The Clash The Sex Pistols (much as I like The Offspring, Sid forever) Kaiser Chiefs (because I hate FOB) Franz Ferdinand Arctic Monkeys (just because I hate Moron 5) Neither.
Here's two more:
Wierd Guys Gary Glitter vs. Michael Jackson (Gary, just because he looks like he could actually kick someone's ass)
Gods Of Metal Judas Priest vs. Motley Crue (Priest wins) Black Sabbath vs. Van Halen (Sabbath wins) Iron Maiden vs. Quiet Riot (Maiden wins)
I only made the Crue face Priest because it'd just be straight-out unfair if they went up against Sabbath.
And Eezoid, Beatles vs Beach Boys? Are you shitting me? Beatles by a mile.

that was my point.
but why vote for someone just because you've heard of them? the idea was to watch the vid and judge on who is better, not who is more widely known.
i find it interesting though that the 4 matches you created all resulted in the UK winning.

The reason I think its UK biased is that even I, who don't really like much outside of the states that isn't in a rock genre, can see that the only real competition is Christina and Timberlake. And I know that the UK Punk Bands aren't watered down pop bullshit, but Green Day and the Offspring are, and have been for years. And if its that bad with Rock chicks, you may as well scrap that whole part. Avril ain't rock, she's a poser little pop cunt that doesn't deserve anything she's got.

Or at the very least try.

I would, but the fact that I've already said that I don't pay attention to most foreign acts outside of a rock scene pretty much speaks for itself. I just think there could have been alternatives to the ones listed for the US.
And punk bands shouldn't even be looked at for the simple fact that punk died here years ago. Unless you want to talk about some of the not so well known punk acts of course, still trying to breathe life into the genre here.

Yes, punk died over here. Though Sex Pistols and the Ramones are still as BAMF as ever.

I know I'm late, but tought shit...
In terms of hotness, Nadine and Cheryl win hands, feet, lips, elbows, knees and chin down, but Kelly Clarkson is better in musical terms.
Lemar. Dinnae ken the other boy like.
N'sync Hate both, but Take That are the worst thing since prima nocte.
Robbie is/was actually ok in his own fan base kinda way, but I like Justin Timberlake's[/b] music. I actaully do like it. It's not a choice. He brought sexy back... Too gay? Tough shite!
Christina Aguilera has a better voice and isn't married to a rugby ned. She also isn't a Welsh ned herslef. Or are they chavs in Wales? Eithewr way, Christina.
Katie Melua is my choice here. Chosen completely at random. I liked the name better.
I would like Queen even if they were German. But they were not. Thank fuck. Freddie Mercury was and always will be the best frontman of any band.
I actually think KT Tunstall is pretty fucking hot, but she spoke bad against Scots a while back. The stupid cow is Scottish too. Way to sell out Hampden or Murrayfield. Avril Lavigne is much better though in musical logic. And looks great in her latest video. I don't know what the song is called.
Hate The Clash for the most part, used to love Green Day. They need to release a better album than American Idiot next time though. Several good songs, but poor full album!
The Sex Pistols will and always will be the second worst band of all time. See earlier Take That reference. I love the Foo Fighters, but at the EMA's, they covered God Save The Queen. Awful song by an equally awful band. Dave Grohl and co made it somewhat bareable though. Still, The Offspring were good in their day.
The Kaiser Chiefs have had one or two good songs and are awful live. Fallout Boy have had three good albums and are awesome live. You guess my pick here.
I love the Plain White T's second mainstream single in the UK, but Franz Ferdinands debut album was gold. I like how Alex Kapranos has taken time out to help bands produce their own stuff like The Cribs. They are a band to watch.
No doubt about it, The Arctic Monkeys are amazing. Maroon 5 are good. I've seen them live. But they are in a whole different league to Sheffield's finest. It's also a totally different style of music.
In the Camp 'Falsetto' section, I think both are awful. The Lesbain Lovers had a solid debut album, but their recent stuff has been way to piss poor lately. I have hated each and every single from their second mainstream album. Shite. But, Scissor Sisters get a very poor first.
