I skipped school to see this movie today, totaly worth it. I thought it was awesome how all the robots had feelings and shit. Also, When Grevious whipped out those two extra arms, all with light-sabors I just thought to myself, "Damn."
The part with Yoda and Chewbaca(?) was cool and sad at the same time. Yeah, that movie got pretty sad near the ending. And did anyone else notice near the end, or anytime in the movie, how the star-ships sounded like they were crying when they took off or made a sharp turn?
The fact that people have been waiting 28 years to see this one is really cool, And I loved how they set up stuff for the first 3 films(IV, V, VI) at the end.

Finally seen it. I'm so glad, but also sad since there won't be any more.
There were quite a lot of people who came dressed as the characters, which was surpising since i didn't go to a well known cinema. Most came in Jedi outfits, there were also a few Darth Vaders, Chewbaccas (they would have been boiling) and a few Leias.
The film itself i thought was excellent. It was very well done and was a good ending to the movie franchise. The action in it was amazing, and was pretty much non-stop. General Grevious was so cool in every aspect. Anakin was better, although his turn wasn't well handled IMO. The dialogue was great. It was nice to see Chewbacca in the movie as well and all the wookies. The ending really set it up well for A New Hope, although i thought they could have added a tad bit more.
All in all a great movie. And i recomend, if you haven't already, watch the Clone Wars animated series. It shows a lot of what happens in between episode 2 and 3.

Palpatine owned this movie from the door. From humble senator of the tiny Naboo to Emperor of the Galaxy. I love it when the villian wins in the end. General Grievous was a waste. Why introduce a new villian only to have him killed off so easily. And I didn't understand what all the coughing was about. I plan to see this again and again and again and again so maybe, just maybe, I'll catch on to things I previously missed. And judging by the numbers opening weekend, we may be looking at a new movie record here. And Lucas said "I think this movie will make the least amount of money."

I loved Episode 3. I managed to get hold of a copy on dvd. Its a copy some guy stole from the editing room so it has little bits in it that arent in the movie and there are numbers across the top, apart from that its perfect. The guy that stole it, copied it and sold them on the net here (USA). He is being sued by Lucas now. It is cool watching all 6 together but nothing beats the movie theatre. I think its the best one, its definently the darkest. Anyone else read the books? bec x

i agree with the "nooooooooooo!" bit. utter crap and annoying as hell. but the cream for me was the "medically she's fine...it's like she's lost the will to live." nooooo fuck off with that shit right now!
great film though. saw it again on the pictures again. i'd knock it down from an 8.5 to an 8.

The more you see Revenge of the Sith, the more you'll begin to view it with rose colored glasses.
I agree.
I wish Lucas had introduced Greivous in Attack of the Clones so we could see more of him.
And I also agree the scene where the general is spinning the two sabers through the floor and wielding the other two in the air was very smooth.

It was unexplained in the movies. But I think it has something to do with the fact that he is half robot/ half alien. They tried to make him seem less robotic by coughing.
They may have explained it in the clone wars animated series or some of the books. I wil do some research!

In Labyrinth of Evil, a novel detailing events that happened between Episodes II and III, Grievous had an accident during a key battle of the Clone Wars and was brutally damaged.
His lungs were crushed and as a result, he needed a cybernetic suit and breathing apparatus in order to live. However, the suit was not as sophisticated as Vaders, with obvious defects.
This would explain the coughing and it was also an ingenious way of Lucas foreshadowing what would happen to Anakin later in the film.
I recommend Labyrinth of Evil to any dedicated fan as it fills you in on these details and others such as the person who deleted the Kamino files from the Jedi Archives and how Sidious sent Dooku to kill Syfo-Dyas to prove his Sith loyalty.

But howcome in the movie, he only coughs during the opening part but not later on. During the opening part he coughs like every 5 seconds.
And E2 give me a list of Star Wars books that you recommend reading.

Maybe they wanted to establish that his lungs were his weakness right away. And E2 give me a list of Star Wars books that you recommend reading. I don't read the Expanded Universe novels because Lucas doesn't consider them official Star Wars history. However, he acknowledges L.O.E. because it fills in a lot of what he could not explain in Episode III. He should have pulled a Peter Jackson and made ROTS over three hours just so he could explain everything. But that's just my op. And Cactus, give it a go; it's definitely worth it.

i'm probably wrong because i haven't seen it yet but i'm told that grevious' cough was inflicted on him by mace windu during a battle. on the clone wars dvd apparantly.
even so, grevious was greviously wasted i thought in the film. could have been better.

That's true, in the clone wars Mace Windu uses the force to crush his chest area and he starts to cough a bit then. The two of them are never in a battle though, Grevious flees when he sees Windu.

even so, grevious was greviously wasted i thought in the film. could have been better. Agreed. It seems as if Lucas enjoys killing off his best prequel characters very fast (Maul, the General, Jango Fett) and keeping the boring ones around way past their time (Dooku, Jar Jar.)

I didn't think he was that necessary in the movie, he was cool and all, but they could have just simply had Count Dooku take his place and change the script around a lil bit.
Darth Maul was the best apprentice in the prequels (not including Vader) he should have taken Dooku's place in all the films.

Count Dooku cannot wield four sabers, and his Sith gimmick was weak compared to Maul and Vader.
A badass like the General was needed to make up for this.

Yeah we was amazing when it came to the fights, but it didn't really help the story having him in it, since they didn't really explain enough about him during the film.

The film itself was rather rushed because there was so much explaining to do in so little time.
I thought the way Palpatine became disfigured was rather weak. Though I liked the duel between Mace and the Emperor, I thought Sidious disposed of the other three Jedi Masters too quickly. It made them look weak.

Yeah i agree it was too rushed. They should have either made it a 3 hour + film or should have told more in the first 2 prequels.
The Windu/ Palpatine duel was really good, i thought that the ending of it was really good and dark, which is what they were looking for. Anakin actually betraying Windu by cutting off his hand and helping Palpatine was great. But then it was really shit how Anakin was trying to do things in the jedi way and within about 30 seconds he bows down to Sidious.
The other three jedi dying quickly was just supposed to show how Sidious was so powerful, but how they filmed it made them see really weak and made Palpatine look really weird. Kit Fisto managed to fend off one shot from Palpatine though.
Yoda gave up way too easily in his fight with Palpatine. Obi Wan/ Anakin was perfect IMO.

I have this movie bootleged at my house right now. I watch it on my big screen. I didn't even have to go to the theatre.
But yes, this movie is one of THE best movies I've ever seen and everything turned out good. But I didn't think Obi 1 ruined Anikan in the film, I thought someone else did. And I thought Anikan was a lot better than Obi 1. But, I liked that fight, it was VERY entertaining.
