Though I'm not into Star Wars, I do want to see how they transition him to the dark side.
But judging by episodes 1 & 2, they'll find a way to screw it up.

I hope not, epsiodes one and two were the build up to number 3 so they were never going to be that good, episode three on the other hand will own, no question about it

I do prefer episodes IV V and VI
I cannot stand the first two, they were utter rubbish.
I will watch the third one though, it is the only one of the new ones I would be interested in.

Episode I and II sucked? I understand how some of you think that episode one sucked, but definitely not two. Episode two saved the whole name of Star Wars. As for episode III, I have confidence that it will be a great hit. However, I do agree with the two previous posters, that IV, V, and VI, were way better. V and VI were the best, while IV was slightly better than I and II. Generally my theory for all trilogies is that there is always one that isn't good as the other two. With the orginal star wars trilogy, its episode IV and with the new trilogy its episode I. So I automatically assume episode III will kick ass.

*nearly chokes to death as he splutters his coffee across his computer*
dude, tell me you just didn't say that episode 4, a new hope was the worst film in the original trilogy?!
*looks back*
oh shit! you did!!!
so return of the jedi is better than star wars? a film full to the brim of muppets and false promise is better than a film that changed the face of cinema forever? ye fucking gods......
does anyone else agree with this critique?
for me as it stands "empire strikes back" is the best. followed by "a new hope", then "attack of the clones", hanging onto that film's coattails is "....jedi" with a weezing "phantom menace" sitting way behind on the road side, coughing it's guts up. i think "revenge of the sith" will get into the top 3.

When I said how Episode IV was my least favorite out of the original three I didn't mean to say that it sucked in any kind of way. It was probably one of the best movies ever made because it was such a revolution. I just think that V and VI were better.
I do believe VI was the best Star Wars film ever made. How can you say that it was a false promise was beyond me. There was so many unforgetable moments in that movie. I think that VI was the best Star Wars Movie, while V is closely in second. IV is the third best. While II follows IV.
The reason why I think that V and VI are were better than IV was because, IV to me was an introduction to the world of Star Wars. That was in no way a bad thing, if anything it made that movie a pure classic.
At least we agree that Episode I was a joke. That movie was more of a Nickelodeon production than a Lucas production.

i understand you're not saying "a new hope" wasn't good. i just can't understand "...jedi" being the best film of the series. i know it's a personal opinion but damn man....
for me jedi had only two exceptional scenes, the three way battle between luke, vader and palpatine and the attack on the death star. other than that, it was average kinda stuff. and it was a flawed ending to the whole series.

ok, so yeah... BOTH of the new films are better then the original trilogy. EP II is the best starwars film so far, closely followed by EP I.
of the old trilogy, EP V is the best, followed by EP VI and EP IV brings up the rear.
i own all 5 films on dvd and vhs, and can say in all honesty that the original trilogy is way overhyped. the new versions are better then the old versions, but they are still not as good as the new trilogy (1-3).
i can watch EP 1 and 2 over and over on dvd, but one viewing was enough with the original trilogy.

I hate to dig up old threads, but I must be allowed to speak.
>Unnamed Moderator<: He must be allowed to speak...
Yah. Ep3, then. Sounds absolutely freaking amazing. I mean, we get to see Palpatine fight. With a saber. That can't fail to be a monumental occasion. And of course, you have Vader appearing, but nobody cares about him... (kidding!)
And for the record, here's my opinion on all the films...
A New Hope: It's the first, and of course, it's a classic. It falls slightly, however, on slighlty ropey performances by some and that atrocious saber duel between Vader and Obi-Wan. Best part? Grand Moff Tarkin. He rules. "You may fire when ready..." Shivers up the spine, man. Ranking: Joint 3rd.
Empire Strikes Back: The best. And one of the all-round best movies ever made, might I add. It gave us more (and better) 3PO laughs, it gave us the Battle of Hoth, it gave us "I...am your father", it gave us the most unlikely fan-favourite character in the history of everything (I mean Boba Fett, of course), Lando ruled, and...the carbon-freeze sequence. It's a thing of glowy-orange, steaming beauty, baby. Ranking: 1st without a doubt.
Return Of The Jedi: Nation may hate me for this, but I also view this as superior to ANH. Not because I love Ewoks, mind you, though I find them infinitely more bearable than, say, Gungans. However, you've got the most flawless lightsaber duel in the entire series (Luke vs Vader), a brilliant Emperor, the Battle of Endor (the space one, that is), and Admiral Ackbar. Heh, he's funny. Ranking: 2nd.
The Phantom Menace: Argh, it's gone pear-shaped. Gungans. I hate Gungans. Especially Binks. Binks must die painfully. Add to that one seriously annoying infant Anakin, too many dumb jokes with the Battle Droids, and ropey acting by many, and you've got the unquestionable worst of the series. Good point? Darth Maul. The Duel Of The Fates is awe-inspiring, and it's all because of him, a character that could have been horribly two-dimensional but is brought to life by the sheer electricity of Ray Park. Ranking: 4th or 5th, depending on how you scale ANH and AOTC.
Attack Of The Clones: Not as good as it could be, but it's still a considerable recovery after TPM. We've got another Fett (always a cause for celebration), we've got Christopher Lee delivering a magnificent performance as Count Dooku, we've got some actually decent Battle Droids, we've got a seriosuly big battle to end things, and we have stormtroopers...of a kind. Oh, and Hayden did a very good job with Anakin, despite what some buggers may say. Unfortunately, we still have Jar-Jar. Gah. Ranking: Joint 3rd. Unless you don't want joints, in which case, this'll be 4th behind ANH.
Now, since I've revived the topic, we might as well discuss something, so...what do you all want to see in E3, then? Here's a rundown of my wants.
- Stormtroopers killing things. For no good reason, beyond the fact that they're evil. - Palpatine using force lightning. - More Boba Fett...but don't make him kill Mace. At his current age, that'd be dumb. - The last few Jedi Starfighters versus the TIEs. - Darth Vader wasting random Jedi just to show how hard he is. - Jar-Jar getting killed. I don't care how.

you wont get tie fighters. the one vader flies was the concept model which he took as his own, but he had been vader for a long time before that happened.
you also wont see 'vader' killing jedi, as anakin will not turn into vader until the very end of the film.
you also will not see 'stormtroopers'. you will no doubt see 'clone troopers' but not 'storm troopers'.
jar-jar will not be killed.
i don't see them using boba in this film. they are going to have a hard enough time fitting in all the other villans without a child boba.
i predict you're going to be very disappointed in this film.

Quite probably.
Especially now that they say Tarkin's role will be little more than a cameo appearance at best. Gah! Why must Lucas waste our time with morons like General Greivous when we could be watching someone who actually matters?!
And I'd be very surprised, after all that's been said by messrs Lucas and McCallum, that we don't see Bob to some extent. Lucas knows how popular he is.

Vader has to come in at least with 30 mins to go, right at the end will be daft, but then again the whole concept of TPM and AOTC was pretty lame
I wanna see Yoda v Sidious/Palpatine, and if anyone is to bump off Windu, its gotta be Anakin, who I also wanna see waste the Jedi Academy

i have a feeling that it will be palpatine v windu, and not yoda. that way, windu gets to go out at the hands of the most powerful of the sith.
it's only fitting.

Well, we all know that Yoda escapes to Dagobah, so who knows how they will link that.
ESB is my favorite, followed by ROTJ and AOTC (tied)
