This thread here is for talking about, discussing, or all around bitching about the storylines, characters, events, gameplay, and other such stuff having to do with Final Fantasy and its other spin off games.
Talk about Final Fantasy 1... or 4.... or 7... or X-2.. hell even XI or the upcoming XII which theres a few videos on Youtube with summons. Post those if you wish. Anyways I take it we have enough stories or gripes about this game and I'm sure a good portion of people have played at least one of these games. So have at it folks.

Played X. Tidus is a faggot. Otherwise fun way to kill an hour or so every night for a few weeks.
Wakka was a fuckin' pimp, though. I wish he'd been the playable character. Then again, they would have made him all angsty.
And fuck that stupid soccer game.

I agree that Blitzball was indeed a pain in the ass and probably wasn't needed as a "side game." Tidus would have been a better character if he would have picked up some of his daddy's traits. And while I agree that Wakka was better... the overall most "Pimp" character would have to be Auron, followed by Khimari, who was followed by Lulu, and then Wakka.
Auron for his attitude about everything, Khimari because his story winds up being better than just "hired muscle," and Lulu because she always seemed like she was about to kick somebody's ass.

His dad was pretty cool. I'd mentally abuse my son too, if he were Tidus.
And Lulu was too full of ANGST over some twat. But I'd say everyone in that game was tolerable except Tidus. God he was annoying.
And I honestly thought the blue haired dude was gay. Even after he murdered all those people. He just screamed "SOMEONE FIST ME GOOD. MY PROSTATE NEEDS A SCRATCHIN'!"

That's Spackle, all right...
Anyway, I actually liked the Blitzball game. It's better than the mini-games in the previous three FF games (FFVII, VIII and IX). Maybe you guys just don't understand how to play? Because I don't have a lot of problems playing it. 'Course, I get the best players in the game. Most of the best players are on the Kilika Beasts team, especially Vuroja, the midfielder (although Letty, the default Aurochs midfielder works really well too), and Larbeight, one of their forwards. Datto or Wakka make decent forwards, remember if you're going to use Wakka to put a few other original Aurochs players (Tidus, Datto, Jassu, Botta, Keepa and Letty) on the field with him to power up his Aurochs Spirit shot. For defenders, you'll want to pick up Ropp at tthe Rin' Trading Post on the Mi'ihen Highroad and maybe one of the Guado defenders due to their high speed (but watch out for their low attack speed). In goal, you may want to get Jumal in Luca early, but when the Beasts or the Ronso team drop their goalkeeper, pick them up. Although Nizarut (the Beasts goalie) doesn't get good until a lot higher. Any goalie who gets Super Goalie, Grip Gloves and the level 2 Anti techniques (Anti-Poison, Anti-Wither and Anti-Sleep), you'll do fine. However, when you're starting out, I reccomend the following players: Wedge (found outside the blitzball stadium, on the right) Ropp (Rin's Trading Outpost, Mi'ihen Highroad) Jumal (found in the Square, Luca)
Other than the Blitzball game, the main game is really quite good. And for the record, I hate Tidus. He's probably the lamest main character in FF history (except maybe Squall in FFVIII). Cheerful and energetic do not a good hero make. I think the game should've circled a little more around Auron.
In the game, my party usually had Auron for muscle, Wakka for those ever-annyoing flying enemies, and either Rikku for magic support (I put Rikku in Yuna's area after finishing her own area of the sphere grid) and theft/bribery. Lulu is so frickin' slow she just takes me out of the game, Tidus is a shitty character with minimal skill, Kimahri makes a good alternate to Auron (I just prefer Auron), and to me Yuna's rather unimpressive.
And yeah, Wakka's a pimp.

I've found that if you get the the Cait Sith doll (weapon) for Lulu with the deathstrike, she's actually got a really good percentage of use. Even against some of the harder non boss monsters early in the game. Rikku had to have constantly been on some serious drugs... far too much energy throughout the entire game.... Yuna wasn't impressive because most of the summons (Aeons) were pretty craptastic. Until you get the last couple...and perhaps Yojimbo. I'd kill for them to try and recreate the beauty that was Knights of the Round, or any other Bahamut type.
Blitzball sucked because I didn't feel like going around and recruiting a team just to play the game that just drags along anyways. The dynamics of Blitzball were completely uninteresting to most people while things like the card games in other FF games were more to their style... and easier to grasp.

Yeah, Ifrit, Bahamut and Anima are probably te best three summons in the game. I ranked Ifrit top three because it's one of the few that you can actually use without getting a headache. Magus Sisters takes a lot of work to master, Shiva's way too weak, Ixion's okay, Valefor is patetic at best, and Yojimbo costs too much. Oh what I would give for Knights Of The Round, Hades, Odin or Neo Bahamut. Even Cactaur, Diablo and the Brothers summons from FFVIII were good.
And yeah, I get what you're saying about the Card Games vs. Blitzball debate. I didn't like the card games, so Blitzball was right up my alley. And it was sports-based, mostly off hockey or soccer, so I liked that. That and every time all I did was win.

Final Fantasy XII came out today...and I hold it in my hands... will it be good...will it be bad?... will anybody give a shit.
Well probably not, but who cares, I still think these games are a damn good series.

It's been going downhill, though. FFVIII was too much of a buzzkill for me to get back into the series. I got X, then VII then VIII.

Thats the problem... you got a somewhat inferior game instead of starting strong. And when you start with a graphical upgrade like X and then go back to the ps1 games, it doesn't give the same vibe or feeling it would have if you would have started with one of those.
By most accounts 6 and 7 were the best games the series ever saw. The opinion on 8 is mixed, but with a slightly more negative outlook from what I've see. Personally I thought 8 was the worst one or the bunch. But theres a few that liked it the best. 9 was a great game, but a lot of people were turned off by it from its cartoonish look, which is sad, because it was a solid game. Very enjoyable. X had its moments, but I felt it was a bit of a let down in a lot of places... X-2 was good for what it was, filler material. XI doesn't really count to me, because first off I didn't play it, but I don't see how a MMORPG could be in the same league as the regular old 1 player RPG games.
But I've been anticipating this game for awhile now, mainly to see what the story was going to be and how well done the graphics and challenges were.

Y'see, FFVII didn't have graphics, so they had a strong storyline. That's the big selling point with me, the story. Graphics, it can look like stickmen doing jumping jacks, if its story is a hit, I'll play it. VII and X had powerhouse storylines, while VIII's was more limp than a wet noodle, no sexual pun intended. Anyway, if XII has a good storyline, I might be tempted to rent it, then maybe buy it if I like it enough, but until then I'll stick to VII, thank you.

Easy.... 9 wasn't really hard. 7 could be a bitch at times and 8, besides being very shitty, was unusually difficult. 6 is pretty good.
10 is moderate in its difficulty... and so far since 12 is a newer style that needs some getting used to.. its slightly more difficult than the rest.

He said, you should play the first Final fantasy, but its hard to find..unless you have a gameboy advance. He also said you should play the third one as well, which again is hard to find unless you have a gameboy advance.
I started you off with games that aren't quite as hard to find and you can actually play them on something where you can see whats going on.

Man, I'm stuck in Sector 6 and it just seems as if I am going in circles and circles. Is it absolutely necessary to talk to everyone Are there any short cuts or side routes that can get me into Midgar?
