I know its been a couple of weeks since I posted here, but I had to deal with disapointment last week. I went to the hospital last week to monitor the pain I suffer with in my pelvis. I totally expected them to give me a date for induction there and then, but they didn't. Instead they said to come back next week (today) and assess it again.
Well today I am 37 weeks and 6 days pregnant. Guess what? Yep, the baby is now officially fully grown! It is now just laying down more fat at approx 1/2 per day now untill birth. It has done nothing but wriggle. Yesterday I was laying down and you could see a knee poking out and going in again at regular intervals! Other than that, the baby seems to have hiccups constantly which do get on my nerves after a while. I know it sounds horrid, but I cant sleep when it happens and just lay there feeling the little critter hiccup for hours.
I went to the hospital this morning as I said earlier and they have finally given me a date for induction. It is next Wednesday 15th December! Woo Hoo. Although the doctor I saw said the head was really far down and engaged so she wouldn't be surprised if I had it before then anyway! I asked them if the baby was full term now why they wouldn't do it before 39 weeks. She told me that there is new evidence to suggest an increase in learning difficulties and even Cerebal Palsy. My midwife has never heard of that before, so we have come to the conclusion that they wont induce before then for fear of being sued if anything went wrong. I cant say I blame them. My midwife's advice for bringing labour on early....lots of sex! Anthony is made up and cant stop smiling now!!!
I am very very big now. My belly ring is still in place but is now very sore as the skin is stretched so tightly over it. I do have real problems sleeping now, more so because I am panicking about the birth itself. I wake up in the night in a cold sweat. I am terrified this time for some reason and I dont think I feel strong enough to cope. I could do with a stuntman to come in and do it for me!
I now have 1 week to get my house and xmas in order. It shouldn't be too much of a problem and Anthony has said I am to rest as much as possible and he will do it for me...I am going to see how long that lasts though!! If you dont see me much around the place in the next week or so, then that is the reason why.
Other than that, I am soooooooooo excited. I am so frightenend and so elated at the same time. It is one of the strangest feelings. As soon as the little critter finally arrives then I will post a pic of the newest P2P member for you all.
My next installment will be a post pregnancy follow up. I feel quite emotional now, knowing its almost over and this is the last time I will ever be pregnant. Even though I have suffered a lot with this one, I have still enjoyed it. The baby belongs to just me at the moment and half of me doesn't want to share just yet. But on a lighter note......here comes Mini-GM!!!!
