Well, after the Panthers' 37-3 implosion, it's painstakingly obvious that the Panthers ain't gettin' to the playoffs.
The Chargers, however, are another story. Philip Rivers is a local boy (he went to N.C. State and was up for the Heisman the year Lienart won it, I believe), so it's cool to see a local get big. The way the Chargers are playing, they'll be in the Unofficial Holiday alongside the Bears or possibly Ain'ts.

The Ravens did win it 2000 on sheer defense alone; and I have to agree that San Diego players are looking like champions right now. But let the post season begin and then we will see. Honestly, who thought Pittsburgh stood a chance last season at thins point having only secured a wild card spot? All I know is that there are some great teams out there who are playing good football at the right time and the Indianapolis Colts are not one of them. However, the Philadelphia Eagles are. I'm not saying they are going all the way but last post season proved that anything is possible and that it's anyone's ball game at this point.

And there you have who I think will have the first 5 picks in next years draft. Now onto Keith's predictions for the play-offs.. Keith's predictions for Playoffs 2006-2007NFC East:(3)Dallas Cowboys NFC North:(2)Chicago Bears NFC South(4)Atlanta Falcons NFC West(1)Seattle Seahawks NFC WildCards(5)Carolina Panthers (6)New York Giants AFC East(4)New England Patriots AFC North(3)Baltimore Ravens AFC South(1)Indianapolis Colts AFC West(2)Denver Broncos AFC WildCards(6)Miami Dolphins (5)Pittsburgh Steelers Now with the 2nd season starting in the NFL, I figured I would go back and see how well I did with my predictions at the beginning of the year. I got 2:4 of the NFC champs correct but missed the NFC South and NFC East. It would had been 3:4 if the Cowboys hadn't choked the last two weeks of the season. At this rate I doubt they will make it past Seattle in the first round. I also got 1:2 of the wild card correct. Who knew that Carolina would have a melt down like they did? Well that plus the year that New Orleans had. I thought they had potential but I didn't think that the Saints would get the 2nd seed and a first round bye. Then in the AFC I got 3:4 of the champions correct. I went against what people were saying and had the Ravens as my North champs over the Bangles. But I blew it when it came to the West champs. I didn't see the Chargers having a year like they are having. L.T. is having a year that most running backs can only dream about. They are heading into the playoffs with a 10 game win streak and alot of momentum on their side. Its not out of the question to see them make the super bowl. As for the wild card teams, i totally blew it. Neither one of those teams lived up to the hype of the pre-season. Of course nobody expected that motorcycle accident to have as much effect on Big Ben as it has. Sure he saids everything is fine but you have to wonder how screwed up he is from the accident. So as it stands, I got 6:12 correct for the playoffs. Thats not too bad. So now here we will have Keith's picks for the play-offs. Hopefully I can do better this time around. AFC Wild CardKansas City Chiefs vs Indianapolis Colts- I can see Larry Johnson having a career day vs the colts who are near the bottom in run defense. But I just have a feeling that Peyton will have another one of his stellar games.. Winner: IndianapolisNY Jets vs New England Patriots- Tough one to call here. The Jets just squeaked into the play-offs. Manguini will have his team ready to play but I think the Patriots will have a scheme in place to stop them. Winner: New EnglandNFC Wild CardDallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks- The Tony Romo bubble has appeared to be busted. He is no longer a superstar qb. But he is still a great qb who will only get better. The Cowboys may have backed into the play-offs but the Seahawks are not the much off. Both teams have lost their last 3 games of the season. I see Parcells having something up his sleeve for Seattle... Winner: Dallas CowboysNY Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles-One has to wonder how McNabb is feeling right about now? Here his team wasn't looking like a playoff team when he got injured. In come Garcia and leads the team to the playoffs. The eagles are coming into this game with alot of momentum. I don't' see the Giants being able to stop them. This will be Tiki's last game.. Winner: PhiladelphiaNFC DivisionalChicago Bears vs Dallas Cowboys- Now everything is telling me to pick Chicago in this game. But there is something that is making pick the Cowboys in this game. The Bears defense isn't what it was at the beginning of this year. Too many injuries have occurred to that defense. Plus the Bears have Rex Grossman under center. I can see him having another bad game while Romo will play just good enough to get the win. Winner: Dallas CowboysNew Orleans Saints vs Philadelphia Eagles-This is a fairy tale season for the Saints. Everything has gone their way. I don't see the Eagles being able to stop it. Bush will run wild and Brees will throw for over a 1,000 yards (well maybe not that many but alot) Plus the crowd is going to be a big factor in this game.. Winner- New Orleans SaintsAFC DivisionalSan Diego Chargers vs New England Patriots- Two words: LaDamien Tomlinson..enough said Winner: San DiegoBaltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts- Battle of the two Baltimore teams. As much as I like Peyton Manning, I have to go against him in this matchup. That Ravens defense is too dominant. Look for a low scoring game with the Ravens defense being the deciding factor in the game. They will score at least 1 touchdown in this game. Winner: Baltimore ColtsNFC Championship gameDallas Cowboys vs New Orleans Saints- This is the saints year. As much of a cowboys fan as I am, I can't pick them to win this game. The first meeting these two had made me realize how special this Saints team is this year... Winner: New Orleans SaintsAFC Championship gameBaltimore Ravens vs San Diego Chargers- This is the hardest one to pick. Both are excellent teams. Either one would be a good representative for the AFC. I am gonna say that San Diego avenges their lost to the Ravens earlier this year and heads to the Super Bowl. winner: San Diego ChargersSUPER BOWL XLISan Diego Chargers vs New Orleans Saints- Should be a great game with lots of scoring. Both teams are known to rack up the points. Can the Saints stop LT? Can the Chargers stop Drew Brees or Reggie Bush, or Duce McAllister, or Joe Horn or any of the weapons at Brees disposal? Can Merriman get there without getting caught with steroids? The game will be a win win for the fans..Tough choice but I am gonna have to go with.. Winner: San Diego Chargers

Kieth, you HONESTLY think the Saints are going to the Super Bowl? As good a story as that would be, I just don't see it happening, especially with Brian Urlacher and the Bears in the #1 spot. The way I see it, it'll be the Terrors Of The Midwest against the Bolts (that's Bears vs. Chargers, for those who are retards).

Now if we were talking about the Bears from earlier in the year, then yeah I would have to give them the nod as the NFC representive in the Super Bowl. But they have key players on their defense out with injuries. They are not the same dominate force they were in Sept-Oct. I just don't think they could stop the Saints offense. Right now they seem to have the perfect offense. Brees has throw for over 4,000 yds to multiple receivers. Also you have the dual threat of Reggie Bush and Duce McAllister at running back.
And you can't tell me that if it comes to a shoot out, that Rex Grossman can keep with Drew are you? Trust me if the Bears fall behind early in their second round match-up you see Brian Greise come in to replace Grossman.

Believe it or not, the most dangerous team in the NFC is E2's Illadelph Eagles.
Because: The Bears Offense can easily be shut down by either the Eagles or the Seahawks. The Saints atrocious D got exposed by the Steelers of all teams a month ago. The Cowgirls aren't clutch. (If they were they would've beat the Lions. The Sorry Ass Lions)
As far as the AFC goes, as they say, the road ends in San Diego. Where LT and Merriman will be shoving lightning bolts into the asses of opposing teams.

The Chargers are the bomb, no doubt, but if the Raven's D is any indication, the D that resembles the defense of the 2000 Champion Ravens, then the AFC post season games will be the ones to watch.
And I know everyone is counting Indy out, sayting that they will choke in the post season as usual. But one thing they have going for them this year is that no one expects them to deliver big like the past couple seasons, and that should alleviate some of the pressure. I remember Pittsburgh wasn't expected to do diddly squat last year and that took pressur eoff of them so they could focus on how to play right rather than what people think of them. With a lot of focus and a little help from God during that Indy game, they were able to go all the way.

The way I see it, the only two teams that really stand a chance of getting to the Unofficial Holiday in the NFC are the Bears and Eagles. Bears for defense and Eagles for offense.
Still, Chargers winning.

Ok, A day has passed and I think I am ready to comment on the whole Dallas/Seattle game. All I can say is sloppy play by the Cowboys offense. They are lucky the score was as close as it was. A Safety??? Give me a freaking break. Then even after that, they had a chance to win it. All they had to do was kick a little ball less then 20 yards to go up by 2. A very routine play. No way they can screw that up right? Well Romo went and fumbled the damn ball. He also made a first down afterwards, but how the hell do you fumble a snap like that? Considering he is the first string qb and had been taking snaps all game long... Also didn't help me to get over that lost when one of the girls that I work with is a seattle seahawks fan and called me at work today just to rub that fact in.
But looks like the Giants will be looking for a new coach this off season. Coughlin needed to go deep in the playoffs to ensure that he will be back next year. Didn't happen so now bring in new blood. Today just didn't seem like a day to be a new york football team fan. Both of them losing in one day. Man the suicide hotlines up there tonight.
And congrats to the Colts defense. All week they had to hear about how Larry Johnson was gonna run all over them, and they limited him to less then 40 yds. The game ball for that game belonged to the whole Colts defense. They bailed Manning out this time. He threw 3 picks and still managed to pick up the win. Now its on to Baltimore, where the dream will die. ;D

Although I wouldn't underestimate the Colts, the Ravens' D looks damn good. In fact, I can see Baltimore representing the AFC in the Superbowl this year. But who knows, I may flip flop on this one. And Scream, not to gloat, but there was an Eagles after party in South Philly last night and some of the players like Brian Westbrook and Lito Shepard (who got hurt btw) were in attendance and they are keeping a humble approach to the whole thing. I love how Pittsburgh was playing the exact same way at this time last year and it would not suprise me if we have an East Coast Superbowl this year: The Eagles v. The Ravens. Hey, a man can dream can't he. And lets not forget that a Pennsylvania team has represented the Superbowl the past couple of years, why stop now? ;D And Keith, did you really think Dallas was coming out of Washington State as winners? The way Dallas, New York, and Kansas City played in late November and December, they didn't even deserve to be in the playoffs. New York self destructed and everyone not named Tiki Barber played as if they just wanted to get this season overwith. The Cowboys, I don't know what happened there. A few weeks ago, they looked like title contenders. And then one thing after another brought them down. I don't know what happened there. Now the shit begins: NFC1. The Philadelphia Eagles @ New Orleans Saints (This could go either way but the Saints' lack of recent playoff experience will be a factor. Eagles 35, Saints 24) 2. The Seattle Seahawks @ Chicago Bears (This is going to be murder. Bears 45, Seahawks 17) AFC1. Indianapolis Colts @ Baltimore Ravens (Logic says the Baltimore "D" will shut down Manning's offense; but the scary thing about teams like Indy are when you think they'll win, they choke. When you think they'll choke, they win. This could go either way, honestly. Ravens 23, Colts 20) 2. New England Patiots @ San Diego Chargers (There are at least two upsets every season and I'm picking this one to be the "other" one. San Diego has done great; the best team in the league, record-wise. But this is where it ends. Pats 42, Chargers 28)

While the Chargers may be the best team in the league this year, they are going up against a PROVEN playoff-tested team, an 11-1 Playoff record and 3 Super Bowls with largely the same core of players speaks for itself.
Still, it comes down to execution, and the Pats are on the road, where they are beatable.
A couple of other notes:
1. We will never, ever see any team score 42 points on the Chargers. It's a virtual impossibility, and it certainly won't be done by the Patriots, the Chargers are superior to Jets in every way so I doubt we'll see anything close to that. The defenses on both teams are too good for that. It'll be close.
2. The Colts will NOT beat the Ravens. Indy got a gift drawing KC in the Wild Card but the Ravens have a Defense, a truck load of momentum, and a QB who has sniffed the Super Bowl field. Also, if Peyton throws 3 picks in Baltimore, I'm willing to bet at least 1 goes back for a TD. I like the Ravens at home here.
3. Bears/Seahawks will be a great game. The Bears D can stop Seattle, and the Seahawks D will bench Grossman. This might come down to one big play on special teams, perhaps a last-second Josh Brown field goal or a Devin Hester Kick-Return. The winner takes this by less than a TD.
4. Eagles/Saints will another great game. Will Philly's D hold up against Brees and the Saints O? Or will the Saints come marching in over the Eagles in what is sure to be a frenzied Superdome? It'll be close, or it could be a Saints blowout. We'll see.

Going into last weekend, yes I honestly thought that Dallas was going to walk out of there with the W. They had the better defense and their offense for the most part wasn't bad. They wasn't going to lose the game for you. That is until that game. If Dallas hadn't given up that safety late in the game, they wouldn't had needed that field goal to pull ahead of the seahawks. Unfortunately they did, and Romo fumbled what appeared to be a wet football , and thus they left seattle with the L. I just hope that Romo isn't forever remembered for that. He is young and with a year as a starter under his belt, he should be better next year. As for Pats beating the Chargers. It could happen. Don't go and underestimate the power of Tom Brady. There is a reason he is 11-1 in post season play. He is clutch. He can rally that pats offense and make a run at the Chargers. But I feel that this is the Chargers year. LT is having too good of a season to have it end now. He could end up in Feb going to the Pro Bowl with a super bowl championship. That is if they are able to get past both the Pats this week and the Ravens next week.
