Hey all. Thanks for taking the time to view this thread. Basically, since your opinion is what counts here, you have the oppertunity to make your thoughts known. And they will be listened too. Every single one of them. This is your e-fed and nothing major such as this should be decided without your input.
Should we have a roster split?
The two writers have reached a stalemate in answering this question. That's where you lot come in. Undoubtedley, both yes and no answers have their plus and negative points. Below are the anonymous views of both writers. One stands firm on his opinion that it is a good idea, whereas the other can't be swayed from the fact that he thinks it's a bad idea. Please read both detailed and well presented arguements. The chances are that you will have your own opinion before answering this, but read carefully each side of the debate. You may end up changing your mind.
This is why I believe a draft is a bad idea, at this particular moment.
First of all, the draft has both good and bad aspects. However, I believe the draft is flooded with more bad aspects than good aspects. This is due to many reasons.
1) Roster Split? If we have a draft, the two head writers will be in charge of splitting the roster up into two different entities. How fair is that to the entire roster?
For example: Let’s say that Spackle and NIN would like to form a tag team. Maybe these two men have had a plan to do such a thing for a while. Maybe NIN and Spackle are working on a storyline to present to the writers as we speak. However, NIN gets drafted to Blitz and Spackle TNT. All of their time thinking up a storyline was nothing but a complete waste. This goes for anyone on the roster who wants to partner up with one or more people. How fair is it to you, the participants in this e-Federation?
2) Factions? Both present and future factions will be greatly affected.
For Example: It’s understood that Simz has a little something brewing. What happens to his plans if the member, or members of his new faction are drafted a part from one another? Will Simz be a happy camper? Will the others that thought they would be participating in a new (or old) faction be happy about not being able to? All of your thoughts on your faction could crumble with the draft.
3) Champions? What will happen with the champions? Will champions shift from one show to the other, or will new belts be created?
For Example: At first, when this idea was brought up, the plan was to have the champions float from one show to the other. However, after further discussion, the “Pro-Draft” writer wants to add more championship belts. There would be 10 in all. So, we would have to come up with 5 more belts. We would also have to send specific champions to specific shows.
Ok, so the Rage Champion is drafted to Blitz. Now what? Not one person on TNT will get their shot at the Rage Title. The P2PW World Championship holder is drafted to TNT. Now, the Blitz guys have no shot at P2PW World Championship. The only times these arguments may not apply is when we would have mix-brand Pay Per Views. However, whichever brand get’s the P2PW World Championship, the other will counter with making a new “World Championship” type title for that brand.
4) Roster size? Do we really have enough active people on the roster to do this right now? As I write this, I count roughly 32 active members. That would make 16 people on each show. 16? In my opinion, that is a small number. But, what if someone is to sign up? Where will they go? Only two people will decide that.
For Example: What if Soul Reaper invites one of his buddies from another e-Fed to join the P2PW? Ok, that’s cool. The more the merrier! However, this person signs up and ends up being on the opposite show of the member who recruited him. How will the newly signed member feel about that? He/She was recruited by Reaper. And now he/she doesn’t get to work with his/her friend? I’m not sure if that’s really fair at all.
5) Air time? This could be the one good thing about a draft.....or not?
For Example: With such a small number of people grouping on TNT and on Blitz, people will get more air time. Or will they? All this means is that you’ll ALWAYS be on the show you’re drafted to. This doesn’t mean more air time. This means that you can no longer have a match on Blitz and then run a storyline segment (or even promo) for TNT. Personally, I’m not diggin’ that. Don’t you like the fact that you can beat the hell out of someone backstage on Blitz, and then the very next TNT you get to face that person in the ring?
6) Pay Per Views? Well, obviously, they will be split up between the two brands. And, we will have some inter-promotional shows. Is that really necessary?
For Example: TNT has a PPV during the month of March. Sorry Blitz guys! Looks like you’ll be sitting this one out.
7) Current storylines and plans?
What will happen with what is going on recently? Probably nothing, if the two(or more) people involved in the storyline gets separated.
For Example: Aladdin and E2 have been heating up as of late. When E2 returns full time, there is a 50/50 chance he will be drafted to the opposite brand of Aladdin. Well fellas, there goes about 10 pages of the SoundOff wasted. Everyone wants to see this fued. But, there is a good chance this may never happen (unless it happened on a cross promotion PPV). The same thing goes with E2's shot at the Internet Title Holder, Shinn’s Theory.
8) Schedule? Either way you look at it, TNT will have to wait until the Blitz shows are done and visa versa.
In Closing:
Look guys. I know that some of you would like the shows up a bit more quicker than usual. A draft doesn’t mean that is going to happen. If we are forced to set up a schedule it will turn this hobby into a job. I, for one, do NOT feel like punching in every time I write a show. We now have a good, reliable writing team. Things will start to move quicker. But, a draft will not make it move any quicker than not having a draft. So, I really hope you, the P2PW members, see my point here. This is a very fun thing we have going. Between the TNT, Blitz, the Pay Per Views, Superstar Sunday, and the excellent P2PW related threads, I think things are running well as they are....and with a writing team, things will move along a bit quicker. TNT is already billed as the Flagship show of the P2PW. Blitz is not. Don’t turn this into the WWE. TNT already has three letters in it’s name, as RAW does. And Blitz! already has the exclamation point in it’s title, as does Smackdown! Can we seriously be anymore trendy? Yes, we can.....IF we decide to go along with a draft.
The P2PW's shows can come quicker, every member of the roster can have more spotlight and be much more open for pushes, and more title shots can be gained.
I think a draft would help out the P2PW a great deal. I've thought this through for a while, and I think it would be in the best interest for the roster, writers, and make for a more enjoyable experience for everyone. It's become evident that it is hard to focus on everyone. A number of people have stopped showing up, or never even started after signing up for that matter, because with the roster growing to around 35, it's become hard to give a lot of people the spotlight they deserve with 6-8 matches between 2 shows. Now, I know that it would seem that being that we use about anywhere from 14-18 superstars between two shows, that within 4, we should be able to include everyone. The problem with that is that the span of time between 4 shows gives a lot of waiting time to those who are not used, and it is also hard to use everyone while running storylines at the same time.
Basically, if we do a roster split, it will give each show about 16-18 people to work with a-piece. And, since one half of the roster will be pin-pointed to a particular area, it would mean that everyone may have a chance of showing up in every show in some way, storyline or match. If not one, definelty every other show, which is something that is rare in the P2PW as of right now with the current setup. The P2PW is growing, and it is becoming that time of year when Message Boards seem to expand, and when that happens, we will wish we'd had had a draft. It's hard enough to keep up with 33 or so.
This benefits the roster by giving them more of a spotlight, helping us to direct our attention on each of you individually more than we have been able to, and it gives a much higher chance that you will receive a push. We have plenty of people who have been here a long time and not gotten anywhere near where they should be, and it's totally our fault (IMO). I know you guys understand, you've said so countless times, but I've also heard some ramblings about how we're not focusing on you, your first match took too long to happen, you don't get enough matches, you don't get any title shots, and all of these are due to the fact that there have become too many people to be able to give each and every one of you some attention.
The writers will benefit from this, cause we will not have to check in with each other on a lot of things that will happen between both shows. Also, a show will be up MUCH quicker, being that we don't have to wait on each other to see what happens in a show or to see who the other writer is using in their show to make sure we don't use them.
Drawbacks? Of course there are some. The main one here is that the potential for a lot of possible matches will not be there anymore, until a BIG ppv (Fever, Rage Rules, etc.) when inter-promotional is a possibility (how many events this can happen has not been discussed. An inter-promotional ppv is also a possibility). But, this is honestly the only drawback I can think of. Also, possible teaming up and factions MAY be a lost opportunity, but remember that there are other people who in this fed who are looking for opportunities.
What you've got to look at is the BIG picture. Each and every person needs to think about what they think is best for the fed and each and every single person in it, not just themselves. Sure, you may be getting pushed now, and be perfectly content with where you are, but think about some of the roster that aren't getting pushed, and should be. Think about the people who should've received title shots, but can't because there are too many people, and the shows take a good deal of time, which means that much longer to wait for a title shot. I think a roster split and draft would solve a lot of problems/issues that are there within the P2PW, and make for a much more fun, smoothly operated e-fed.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, just remember to give your honest opinion. Nobody is going to think any lower of you because of what you think would be best for the fed, because we all have different opinions.
Everyone is encouraged to post their thoughts on this. Whether or not it goes ahead, the e-fed cannot move onwards until a decision has been reached. Thanks again for reading.
