Jeez...I was ready to watch Raw and the first thing I see is the visual of Benoit and the writing "In Loving Memory - 1967 - 2007". I thought they must have gotten it wrong, to see Vince standing in the ring, tears in his eyes, empty arena. He announces it and I just can't believe it's true. I really can't. He was such a larger than life, strong person that I just can't accept that he's passed on.
RIP.

from wwe.com
they report double murder-suicide
dont care how you want to mix this up, but I have spent the last 3 hours crying.
I know I dont post on here any more, but this is where I found my spiritual "wrestling home". Tonight, this is a very dark night for all wrestling fans. Please try not to speculate on who did what to whom, remember that 3 lives have been taken over the weekend.
To Nancy aka Woman, thank you for your contribution to wCw
To Daniel, goodnight godbless
To Chris, Thank you for the memories, thank you for everything
Finally, I want to say thank you to Vince McMahon. Granted, they got it wrong with regards to Sherri Martel, very wrong. Tonight, they got it spot on.
If I'm wrong, please post to say so.

If any wrestler deserved a whole 3 hour tribute, it was Chris Benoit. The man through out his whole career had given his all for the sport that he loved with a passion.
Many men and women have gone out with a broken neck and have come back less of a wrestler then when they left. But not Benoit. If anything, he came back more determined and went all out even more.
There are too many great matches this man has had over the years to pin it down to just a handfull. He was one of those type that could get in a ring with a mop and pull out a passable match.
Unfortunatly I was unable to watch the whole 3 hour tribute. I came home shortly before 11, click on Raw and saw the tribute for Benoit. It was very fitting that the last match they showed was him beating Triple H and Shawn Michaels for the world title. Also very fitting that the last shot was of him and Eddie hugging in the middle of the ring. Two very deserving champions who are now having 5 stars matches up in heaven along with the likes of Curt Henning and Rick Rude..

Apologies for the double post, but this is care of rajah.com
This story is just breaking and more and more details are becoming available, but this is what Fox News has just posted:
Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being investigated as a murder-suicide, but said that could not be confirmed until the evidence was examined by a crime lab.
WAGA reported that investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and son over the weekend, and then himself sometime Monday.
A concerned neighbor called police. The bodies were found in three different rooms.
The lead investigator, Sheriff's Lt. Tommy Pope, told The Associated Press that the deaths were being investigated as homicide, and said the cause of death awaited autopsy results on Tuesday.
Pope said the three were found about 2:30 p.m., but he would release no other details about the deaths at the house in a subdivision near White Water Country Club.
Chris Benoit Tribute Video
**Update** The Atlanta Fox station is reporting the following on their website:
Authorities say pro wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and seven-year-old son were found slain toda at their Fayetteville home.
Detective Bo Turner told Atlanta television station and FOX affiliate WAGA that the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide, but said that cannot be determined until the evidence is examined by a crime lab.
The station says investigators believe Benoit killed his wife and the boy, Daniel, sometime over the weekend, and then himself sometime today.
A concerned neighbor called police. The bodies were found in three different rooms. The lead investigator, Fayette County sheriff's Lieutenant Tommy Pope, said only that the deaths were being investigated as homicide. He said the cause of death awaits autopsy results tomorrow.
The 40-year-old Benoit, a native of Canada, was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career.
Benoit was scheduled to perform at the "Vengeance" pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called "personal reasons."
Benoit maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling. The federal-style house is in a secluded neighborhood set back about 60 yards off a gravel road, surrounded by stacked stone wall and double-iron gate.
IMO
if this is true, then my God, what the hell happened? Everyone on Raw has talked about his being so proud of his family.
My head is in a spin, again, sorry for the double post, been a while, and it is 5.21 am here in England

I'm in shock. I can't sum up the words to describe how I'm feeling as regards this. People, from all walks of life, die everyday. Every so often, someone who has touched you, either someone you know or someone you look up to, also passes away. But not like this. Not this way.
Hopefully, details will become more available so we can start to make sense of this senseless tragedy and find out what, if what they're saying is true, made a man, devoted to his family and his work, commit this most shocking of actions.
No-one was able to touch me with his work in that ring more than Chris Benoit. No-one told a story bettter. No-one gave more. He was always one of my favourites from his WCW days through to joining the WWE. When Jericho announced Benoit as his tag team partner on their way to becoming WWE Tag Team Champions, I marked out more than I had for years. From that moment, he was my favourite. Matches against Austin, Angle, Triple H et al, confirmed this. I don't feel any shame in saying that at Mania 20, I had a tear in my eye when Triple H tapped and hearing Howard Finkel say "The winner of this bout and NEEEEEEEEEW World Heavyweight Champion...Chris Benoit!" When he turned and saw Eddie Guerrero in tears, I was in full blub mode. That one moment, for me, is the all time greatest wrestling moment for me. It was at the time, and three years later with both men gone, even more so now.
I hope you find peace, Chris. And thank you for all the memories.

^ And I know where you watched that match that night. If I recall correctly, it was in mine and Donna's living room, where we had our annual Wrestlemania party.
Grown men cried that night, and I know in my house last night, a grown man cried again at that same moment

I'm shcoked and deeply saddened. When McKenna called me just after 1am, I knew something bad had happened. When he told me, I couldn't believe it. I couldn't for the life of me get the internet to work, so I had to sit staring at a computer screen that gave me no information at all. Now, I've heard a lot of things and still I don't know what to think.
I don't watch wrestling much, if at all these days. But when I did, it was for people likle Chris and Eddie. It's a complete loss to the world as a whole, not just the world of wrestling, that both men are no longer with us.
RIP Chris Benoit.

From what the internet and the reports coming out of Atlanta, are saying, it looks worse and worse by the moment.
A friend I spoke to on the phone said it would be a matter of time before Benoit's skeletons would start to emerge. I know you shouldnt believe everything you read, but it looks worse and worse for Chris Benoit all the time.
I have felt my sympathy fade to nothing throughout the day. Now, all I feel is nothing. In less than 24 hours he has gone from a hero to a murderer. A child killer who then took the cowards way out.
Too much has been said in the hours after their discovery to say I am not wrong in this. But am I the first to start saying what other people are thinking?
If I'm wrong, let me know

I'll be shocked and relieved if we've got it wrong Ant. But there has to be some degree of truth in what's being said online and in the news. The police can't come out and say things without having proof to back it up. They wouldn't say they were treating it as a suicide/murder if there was another alternative. It's not how it is done.

I've watched the news reports online on both FOX.COM and CNN.COM
Both say, and it feels surreal typing this, but Chris Benoit strangled Nancy on Saturday night, smothered his own son Daniel, Sunday morning, before hanging himself on Monday.
The police say they have proof he remained at home, while the other two bodies were lying there.
This is the most surreal wrestling related tragedy I have ever seen in all the time I have been a fan.

It's a horrible thing to read. Life is never, ever bad enough to kill your partner and kid. It's an awful turn of events that gets sicker and sicker as time goes by.

This is something I don't think any wrestling fan could have ever imagined in their worst dreams. What could have turned this passionate man who was completely devoted to his family into a double killer? That's the question that needs to be asked. He no showed an event on Friday, the reason he gave was "A family tragedy". JR on Sunday at the PPV announced that he wouldn't be there for "personal reasons" So what happened between Friday and Saturday evening that twisted Benoit so much? Why? That's the question everyone who knew Chris, either personally or professionally will be asking themselves till their dying breath. And to be honest, I don't think we'll ever find out 100% why.
Given the WWE has subtlely changed stance on this (removing merchandise, tributes etc - Wm XX's main event is "Triple H defends his World Heavyweight Title against Shawn Michaels") it's going to be interesting to see how WWE handles this. Can you pay tribute to a murderer? Or do you look back to the past as to the man he was before his last 48 hours of madness?
EDIT: Even TNA have removed the Chris Benoit tribute story they ran. It seems people are distancing themselves from this in a hurry.

WWE seem to have really distanced themselves from all of this.
The Home page, which was all about Benoit, is now back some kind of normality, with just the main headline about what has happened.
(stuff removed as Rage beat me to it!)
Wow! After the way they rained the plaudits on what a good man and father he was, they have sure done the 180 in a hurry.
This story has a long long way to go. I know Atlanta Police are holding a press conference at 3pm local time. Sky TV in England does run both CNN and Fox, so I'll see if I can watch it. If not I'll check it out online, and then post my views on it then.
I cant see WWE television going the way they did with Eddie Guerrero. I know the "Who killed Mr McMahon" storyline has ended. Had to really didnt it? but from what some sites are saying, both ECW and Smackdown will have the "In memory of" graphic, and then just matches, all storylines suspended for the week.
With how this has happened, I can see Benoit's career be erased from wrestling history. A guaranteed Hall of Fame place gone with the news.
I hope Chris, wherever you are now, that it was all worth it. The more I think about it, the more it makes me sick to my stomach. I'm a father, as the veteran posters know all too well. Nothing, not a damn thing on this planet, no circumstance or situation, would EVER, EVER make me want to hurt my children.
I'm sure someone will try and excuse it, say it was steroids, drugs, he had a temper. So what? He killed his OWN SON.
That's the bottom line
edit ; press conference is live on CNN in the next hour, full details on what happened
chat to you all in a bit
Update from press conference from FOX NEWS
this is just a brief summary of what was said
Nancy Benoit bound by hands and feet, wrapped in a towel, and suffocated. A bible left by the body on Friday night.
Chris Benoit phones a WWE road agent saying he cant attend house show and PPV as Daniel is coughing up blood
Daniel Benoit smothered to death late Friday night/early Saturday morning. A bible left by the body.
Time line between that and Chris Benoit's suicide, using the cables on his weights machine, on Satudray night unclear. Bible left by his body
Steroids found in the house
there you go. and after hearing the commentators on Fox News, WWE will need to batten down the hatches, as this is going to be turned on them real fast.

not the thread for jokes Joe.
I belive they should still honour Beniot in the H.O.F as that is recognized on wrestling ability nothing more.
Now I am not a parent but I can think of nothing that would make me want to hurt any child let alone anyone my own
